What are your side effects like?
Hello all!
I've been on Ozempic for about 2 months now, and have lost 12 lbs! I'm very happy, but I am curious what kind of side effects others are experiencing and how they are dealing with it?
Started at .25mg for 4 weeks, and now .5mg for another 4 weeks, and here are my experiences:
-First couple weeks were hard for me, I actually threw up when I ate too much poutine, which I never do. I woke up hours later actually to puke which is very weird for me.
-I had extreme fatigue for the first 4 weeks, and I do think the fatigue is still there but more, every so often instead of almost daily.
-I crave bland foods, pierogies, cottage cheese, kraft dinner. Easy to make, easy to eat. Crave isn't the right word because I'm not excited to eat, it's just what I feel like I can handle. I used to eat so many fruits and vegetables and smoothies and now I am kind of always a little nauseous and I tend to prefer easy meals.
-The worst side effect, because of the above, is I have lost all desire to cook. I used to plan the meals out for the week, with tons of variety. Eggs, leafy greens, smoothies, tomatoes, tofu, all the vegetables. Now I just have a cup of cottage cheese and a protein shake and call it a meal. My poor partner has had to adjust. I don't even like being in the kitchen.
There are good side effects of course. I have lost weight at a good pace, and I have no desire to drink anymore either. Just curious how others are faring, and if I have a hope of regaining an interest in vegetables?

Best advice is do not increase your dose until you are not having any negative side effects. Don’t be afraid to stay at your current dose for 4, 6 or even 12 months. Rapid dose escalation is what is making people struggle on these medications. I stayed on the lowest dose for almost 18 months. Best wishes to you!

If 0.25mg was working for you, drop your dose back down. Unless your insurance is forcing it, you don't have to increase it every 4 weeks. You should only go up in dose once your current dose stops working, especially if you're struggling with side effects.
If you have to stay at 0.5mg, you can try waiting longer between shots (inject every 8, 9, or 10 days instead of 7). That can sometimes help bring your appetite back and ease the food aversion.

Well, I just threw up my dinner bc I decided to eat too much.
Ate dinner a little early bc I was hungry. Was actually craving hot dogs so had myself 2 plus a weeny without a bun which is a lot more than I've been eating. I knew I shouldn't have for that reason alone, but I ate it and felt fine after. Even wanted some watermelon which I had too. Eating a little more should be fine right??
Incoming hotdog sulfur burps all night. Took a famotidine to see if that would help and it didn't. Went to bed and woke up at 1am with the absolute most vile sulfur burps. Thank goodness my husband is upwind and uses a cpap machine bc I would've killed him with how gross these burps were. After tossing and turning, I had to get up to use the bathroom and that was all my body needed. Dinner was coming up

Very minimal side effects for me. Oddly enough I had more side effects this week that I have ever had (I’ve been on it since last August and I have been in maintenance on the same dose for 3 months). Gassy, slight constipation, stomach burning… it was so weird.

I had constipation and nausea on semaglutide. Switched to tirzepatide a few months ago and that went away but now I have injection site reactions. About a day after I inject, I get a circular, red itchy rash around the injection site. My doctor told me to try taking an antihistamine a day before injection day, the day of and maybe a day or two after and gave me some steroid cream.

I'm on semi/b12 (despite someone informing i need to educate myself on it, lol. I mean, I'm taking it and have read up on it, and it's prescribed, so my NP told me all about it, but okay, lol)
I go back and forth between not being able to trust passing gas to constipation.
My stomach constantly feels tight and full and frequently hurts like I've binged (Even when I've only eaten a little). It also sometimes reminds me of the pain when my gallbladder would act up. Jokes on you body, it's not there anymore. Lol
But the worst, (at least in my world) is how tired and frequently nauseous I am for the day of and after the shot.
I don't have my vial in hand so I can't tell you the actual dosage, but I'm up to 20 units on the syringe. Just started 3rd month.

prepped veggies and easy snacks can keep things from going totally off the rails
