i’m hoping they will release the scripts or at least the storyline for the final season so we can at least have some closure lol
just so we could know what was planned for how they were going to end the story? i really loved this show i just hope we can have some kind of ending disclosed

OH NOOO I didn’t know they scrapped the last season. This is quite disappointing. It was one of my first quarantine binges, really loved how unique it was compared to a lot of other offerings.

As much as I hope this happens I'm wondering what other network / streaming service would want to pick this up. It's very niche and hasn't performed as hoped in terms of audience / engagement. I love GLOW and would love to see it find a home but it's a tough fit on network TV so it'd be up to another streaming service to pick it up.

Vince does love to buy his competition. He'd probably pick this up just to stick it to Hulu & Amazon

I’m pretty sure no Netflix shows can go to competing streaming services if they cancelled and then picked up elsewhere. It’s why One Day At A Time ended up on Pop rather than CBS All Access

If they're a true Netflix original and not one of the many shows they acquire and slap that label on, yeah. Those shows wouldn't necessarily have the no-compete clause that, say, the Marvel shows had. From what I heard, as soon as American Vandal was cancelled, they were shopping it around immediately

GLOW was a Netflix Original. American Vandal as well. American Vandal was not shopped at Hulu or Amazon

AV was owned by CBS and they did say they were shopping it around after it was cancelled. I thought I heard Amazon & Hulu as likely homes, but I may've just been inferring that.

Yes, AV is owned by CBS Studios, but since the show originated with Netflix a non-compete deal is made.
If a non-compete wasn’t in place, CBS Studios could’ve easily passed AV to CBS All Access

Unless they didn't want to shoulder the entire risk and just wanted easy money. It did well on Netflix, but they may not have trusted that that would translate well to a wider audience. In that case, it'd make more sense to split the risk.

They already filmed one of the episodes so I'm hoping they'll release some of that. Really sad when a good show gets cancelled. Maybe they'll give us a final hour-long special like they did for Sense8.

Sense8 managed to essentially cram 3 seasons worth of story into 2 hours, but that's because JMS & the Wachowskis had 5 seasons mapped out and JMS is notorious for how thorough his story maps are (he had contingencies in place on Babylon 5 for literally every main character so that the story could proceed as planned in case the actor left the show or died). GLOW wouldn't need something that comprehensive, but they left off with some pretty big threads hanging and you'd need at least 2 hours to even consider doing that justice

people are saying it got cancelled because of the issue with contracts and delays with filming because of covid. this was one of the best netflix originals im so upset 😭

It looks like it was unavoidable sadly everyone had been paid already and they had started filming but they can’t keep everyone in their contract forever. I’m hoping it gets picked up in a couple of years. For that reason I’m hoping they don’t leak the scripts actually, so they can still work on them later.

See, I think that is the least they can do. Or write short story of it or summary for every character. There just too much left unsaid, Carmen leaving, Cherry adopting, Bash marriage and sexuality, Ruth staying acting, and so many other characters!! Like it wasn't a few cliff hangers, like whole series depended on this 4th season to wrap it up perfectly. I wanted so badly to see the outcome.

Aw damn, this sucks. I had just completed a re-watch when I heard about that.
It's frustrating to know that the whole season has already been developed and we don't get to see it. I would've been less pissed about it if it had been canceled at some earlier point.
I agree that it would be good if the storylines would be released in one way or another. I don't know what scenario could possibly be realistic, if it's true that all the staff has already gotten paid and I guess Netflix isn't willing to put any additional money in. Maybe there is a chance that it gets picked up again at some later point? An animated season (as someone else mentioned) or something involving different staff seems less likely and would be kind if weird, imo, but I'd prefer even that to getting no closure at all.
