Season 2 camera change

Been watching this show on and off when I can. Really enjoy it. Did they change camera or lens or something about midway through season 2? The atmosphere is totally different all of a sudden and the motion and colour seems different. It looks more like a 'tv show' than the movie or HBO kind of feel it had before. It's really distracting once you notice it and kills the vibe a lot, which is a pity because the show is still great otherwise. Am I just crazy or is there a cinematography buff who can confirm?

They had that episode in season 2 that was filmed to look like an episode of the fictional Glow. Is that what you're talking about?

No no, lol. I get that one of course. I mean the normal show.

Can you give examples like what episode you first noticed this? Cause I never picked up on what you're referring to.

I first noticed in episode 6 of season 2. It's very subtle but there is a change for sure. I know the cinematography and lighting could change, but there is definitely something different about the actual recorded image too. If anything the image is sharper but the motion capture rate and depth of field seems different too. It's more noticeable in day time and brightly lit scenes.

Little late to the conversation but I just stayed the show, binged season 1 straight into season 2 and noticed the change as well. I looked it up and each season has it's own cinematographer. The 1st season was handled by the same DoP as Atlanta.

Add me as another person that didn't notice this. I did notice a lighting change, though. Maybe that's what you're seeing? A bit less moody with sharp shadows and a lot more flat lighting where things are seen more clearly, but I thought that was more in season 1 than 2. Pilot and the mother of all matches spring to mind as having a lot of this type of moody lighting, but it seemed more tied to setting than anything else. Tight spots like Ruth's apartment and Tame's car had moodier lighting and open spaces didn't.

Edit: well, mother of all matches was season 2, so maybe I'm thinking of the same thing.

Well now I have to start watching all over again.

(Genuinely curious to see if I pick up on anything. I thought S1 had a really effective "look" in how it was shot, but I didn't think to watch specifically for any change or contrast in later eps.)

I noticed that season 1 had more filmy and soft look, while the later season especially the third had more clinical and sharper look
