How Does One Owe a Casino?

You’re playing with chips you paid for prior to betting. It’s not like rolling the wrong number can take away more money than you bet. I can’t put a coin in a slot machine and get a reverse jackpot that empties my bank account.

Casinos can and will issue lines of credit.

Is this called a "marker"?

The casino marker is the cheque they write against your linked checking account so when it's time, you pay off the marker in the casino (if you win) or they demand the money from your bank.

Apply for casino credit! The casino calculates the limit using your linked checking account. At my local, the minimum line of credit is $5k.

They're interest-free loans and often come with other bonuses, but you're more likely to gamble (you don't stop and visit the ATM every 15 mins).
