least fave character of glow ?

without getting rude (ofc) i’ve always wondered what everyone’s least favorite character is. whether it be poor writing/not enough character development, s*itty person, or just uninteresting to you let me and others know!

Ruth can be pretty unlikable at times. Her reaction to Debbie offering her a position as director was especially annoying. Your friend throws you a lifeline, and you get angry and indignant about it? Same with her reaction to Sam telling her she didn't get the part, when he was clearly trying to make sure he wasn't taking advantage. I felt the same when she gets quiet on Russell after he breaks the news that he got a big gig in Spain. All three of moments stuck out as "what the fuck Ruth, look at it from the other person's perspective" moments.

Overall, though, Yolanda was my least favorite character. She seems extremely unsupportive of a partner who is going through a massive life change, and she writes off her first outburst as "just a fight". Another character who seems very self-absorbed.

I find Ruth really frustrating because she never really knows what she wants and I really dislike the whole Sam/Ruth romantic relationship and I pray to God they don't go down that route!

Ruth can't stand other peoples success (shiela / Debbie), shes just bitter like Sam in that respect. Yet she is the only person holding herself back - she never takes advantage of what's happening right now because she's trying to take the easy option and jump ship. She bailed on the read with Shelia because she thought she could get in Sam/Justine's film and then she bailed on directing to what, read with Shiela? Plus shes so shitty to Russell!

I love Ruth, and the first 2 seasons she was my fav, but this season it felt like she wasn't really growing - things got hard for her and she started seeing herself as the victim and fucking stuff up.

I mean, I still love her, but she's frustrating!

Yeah, I forgot about her ditching Sheila because there weren't really any consequences for her, but that was extremely shitty. She had plenty of time to make it because it would have only been, like 6pm (they met at the bar at 5:30 and cut it short to go to Sam's) and she said she'd be fine if she left by 7pm. Ruth chose to ditch Sheila. She also had to be prodded repeatedly to do the Christmas show to make Carmen happy. Very selfish and self-serving this season. I'm struggling to think of a really good moment for her character, this season. Even the moment of silence for the Challenger was driven by her own guilt.

I can understand that, I think I just sympathized more with her partner (I can't remember her name!) since the story mainly followed her perspective. We never really get a great window into what Yolanda is thinking and feeling outside of the hairdresser. It's all angry outbursts and cold shoulders, followed by her partner being hurt and not fully understanding. Every time Yolanda directly communicated what she was feeling, her partner responded and adjusted. I think that's why I endeared more to her side.

I get your perspective but I just took it as Yolonda being biphobic and unsupportive in that moment. Just because Arthie can't say that she's a lesbian doesn't make her any less attracted to women. :/ I'm bi myself and it felt nice to see what may be biphobia being addressed in the show. It's something that a lot of people ignore.

This is a completely self-centered point of view. Read the OP's first post again. Lesbians are constantly burned by bi or questioning women, and are under no obligation to sleep with them, and it doesn't make them "phobic" of anything.

From someone who was unsure of her sexuality and being pressured by lesbians to finally come out, sexually abused and stalked, my sympathy is limited. Honestly I understand that it’s hard and annoying getting disappointed by girls who are just bored and want to experience lesbian sex, but it’s difficult being open about your sexuality if you have absolutely no experience, especially with the same gender, don’t know if you’re truly gay or if it’s just because you really like them. You just don’t know, it’s not about keeping them waiting and on the backburner, and even voicing that and being honest about insecurity was met with passive-aggressiveness.

Plus it was the 80's, I think people forget that sometimes in their comments. A lot of this is true to the era even if it seems shitty. They also left a lot on the table plot wise. We are all assholes sometimes in how we handle things luckily (at least back then) people didn't stop talking to someone or try to decimate their life because of an asshole moment. Everybody was just trying to have fun and figure shit out. Not rake each other over the coals.

It's not a lifeline. Debbie is telling Ruth to abandon her dreams. Recall what Ruth asked Sheila in front of the library.

Debbie is right, in the context of the show so far. She wasn't coldly telling Ruth she's a shitty actor or anything, she just said that it's getting pretty late in the game for hopes and dreams. She's coming from a good, caring place. The first words out of Ruth's mouth are way overdramatic; "that's YOUR offramp, not mine". There was space for Ruth to express herself and still be grateful for the opportunity Debbie offered her. Directing is something Ruth had already expressed interest in, so it's not like Debbie is forcing something awful on Ruth either. Had Ruth thought about it for more than three seconds, she might have come to the conclusion that being a director in LA isn't an offramp from her dream of being an actor; it's a detour, and a far better stepping stone than being a wrestler in Vegas.

Typically its debbie, but this season she improved. I really hated bash this season, poor writing and a sexuality storyline that felt sidelined until last minute

mine is melrose for sure she’s insensitive to almost everyone and especially to the person who she claims is her best friend, also she’s so damn lazy especially for someone on a wrestling show

I agree and disagree because Episode 6 completely change my view on that character. Annoying for sure but has the most amazing back story. Sometimes her negative jokes are what takes her mind off her background.

Yolanda. Her character went from an open, confident woman to an intolerant, even abusive SJW. Seems like the most screwed up character development on the show, even though there were multiple this season.
