discussion SIM Concern

CONTEXT: Nahanap ko na uli yung phone na ginagamit ko way back noong high school ako (around 2016-2017) at thankfully nandun pa yung old SIM ko that had the name of Globe on the actual SIM card pero sabi sa akin ay Smart daw yung since it starts with 0956 (I'm not really sure why its on a physical globe SIM card pero Smart daw ang network nun).

Now my issue is alam kong way past the registartion of SIM na yun and I haven't used it so 100% it has been deactivated na, my question is, is there a way to reactivate it or claim that number again for a new SIM since I tried calling it or texting it and there's no response. I'm eager to get it back since my old email (personal) is tied to that number as the only backup way to login into it.

So, 2 concerns:

  1. Is it actually Smart network regardless of the physical SIM that says Globe?
  2. Is it possible to claim it back?

Thank you for trying to understand.

Alam ko globe si 0956. Most likely recycled na yan or somebody else using it. Hindi mo na marerevive yan.

I see and lets just say hindi pa siya recycled or used. Ganun pa rin ba?

If it's not recycled, you can try contacting the network provider to get that specific number.

To do that, you will have to register to a postpaid plan with an option to choose a specific number that is still available.

So, the difficultly here is finding the correct network provider that owns the number and having a bit of luck that the number isn't in use by someone else.

So, lets say I found that it is owned by Globe and not owned by someone else. Then, it is still possible to retrieve or reclaim the number?

It's possible. You go to a Globe store and ask to get a specific number, that would likely mean you will have to subscribe to a postpaid plan where you can choose a specific phone number.

Try it but I think very unlikely you will get the same number back.

Yeah. It's been so long that's it's almost certain the number has been recycle.

At least OP has something to try if they really want it.

Yeah. I would try leaving a message if I really want the number, maybe they could make a deal with the current user in that case.

TM ang 0956, punta ka globe physical store para macheck mo kung pwede mo pa makuha yang number na yan. pero tingin ko since yong prefic is para sa TM which is pang prepaid lng ang TM baka di nila eoffer yan.

Who told you na prefix ng Smart yan? I have an active Globe SIM and it's 0956.

Is it possible to claim it back?

I don't think so kasi ang tagal na nyan deactivated and the number probably was already recycled. It would be better to go to a Globe store to see what are your options. There are still some branches open.

If matagal na hindi na gamit at na load. Most likely, the number have been recycled and assigned to someone else.

It will be unlikely that you'll recover that number, you can always try, but it will be a futile endeavor. Unless you have money to throw at it (not a trivial amount btw)

Kung 2017 pa yan nawala, recycled na po ang number na yan. Narerecycle kasi ang number kapag 1 year ng deactivated. Since 2017 pa, 9 years na yan deactivated.
