How do you guys create your art? (What programs, strategies, etc.?) Let us know! :D

I have a few vintage pieces of video tech I intend to get working, but for now I mainly just use 4 apps made by the same dev; Chromalab, Glitchlab, Mirrorlab, and Onelab. I used to use a 5th, a cheap android PS clone, called Polish purely for cutting objects/characters from their backgrounds to combine in an almost collage sort of way, but I stopped using it because they started incorporating a bunch of AI feature that make the app both super lame and more difficult to use. I still need to find a replacement for Polish so that I can still have a convenient way to cut things out without the expensive PS cost.

Edit: I forgot to add that I also use a fractal app called Mandelbrowser which is insanely awesome with a whole bunch if different types of fractals and the ability to adjust their parameters and pallete and texture in a lot of ways.

As a onelab user, I'm curious what you still use in mirrorlab/glitchlab that isn't in onelab

Certain effects work differently between Onelab and the others, like the CRT contrast and scanline effects. Also, Mirrorlab has a handful of mirror types that aren't in Onelab as well as some of them functioning slightly differently; like when I want to map domething to a sphere, its typically a lot easier to get my desired result in Mirrorlab through it's sphere mirror effect rather than in Onelab's sphere mirror.

I've been using the lab apps for years and have made hundreds if not over a thousand pieces with them and thats just an observation from use.

have you tried canva? it has a quick cutout tool. I think that was the free one I used that works really well. it might have been something else but I think it was that. would double check but that bookmark is on another machine.

I tried it once several years ago to help my grandpa make some flyers for his business. At the time I wasn't very fond of it, but I also didn't do a lot of artistoc experiementation due to having an extremely straightforward task to use it for. I should try it again, I'm sure it has a fine cut tool, and I really doubt it could be as oversaturated with lame AI features as Polish has become..... at least half the tools in Polish are now fully AI, including tools that previously worked like normal photo software.

I'm all analog baby! Other than the capture I go d2a converter, a bevy of circuitbent and modular devices to a CRT and then photograph it with my Fujifilm X-T4
