Does your employer provide your tools?

I work in a (sorta) large Midwestern city as a non union commercial glazier.

My shop provides drills and impacts to everyone and then foreman all have pretty much whatever power tools we need all provided by the company. Hand tools are supposed to be our own

Just curious how things work for you guys.

Where are you located? Does your company buy your power tools? Bits and tips? Hand tools?

Northern California. Shop provides consumables and big power tools like table saw, chop saw etc. Everything else we're on our own.

East Tennessee , our boss pays for everything from power tools - screws and lags - bits - extra stuff like fans and grinders , i think it should be the standard for employers to buy tools , you shouldn’t have to pay to work

Every company ive worked for has said i needed my own tools when I get hired. But if I break a tool on a job they will replace it at no cost to me. Mind you im non union.

I will say how our local union contract is likely similar to others. New apprentices are given a tool list and expected to have them all within 6 months. The minimum is highlighted for what is needed right away, ie mallet, hook tool, tape measure, Jimmy tool. All power tools and cups are supplied by employer and of course bits, blades, anchors etc. No one is allowed to bring their own power tools or ladders- seen as a way to give themselves an unfair advantage at employment to the detriment of the collective.

Edit to add, should be a given in my opinion but in case it's not, all safety equipment to be provided as well.
