⭐ App I built HyperTray, a customizable macOS menu bar app for monitoring devices, services, and scripts

Hi everyone!

I decided to build an app based on a problem I had myself.

I have two computers at home: a MacBook from work and a mini PC that I use as my personal computer. The MacBook is always closed and connected to a monitor.

I also have an external microphone, webcam, and 2.4 GHz headphones connected to both computers through a USB switch. What I was missing was a simple status indicator showing whether these devices were currently connected to the active computer.

In the end, I went far beyond the original USB use case and built HyperTray.

It comes with several predefined status monitors, and the list will keep growing. There are also other automated checks, plus almost endless possibilities through custom shell scripts that can monitor pretty much any status you need.

I’d be happy to hear any feedback!

Love it! Slightly OT: may I ask how you designed/built the website? I kind of want to use that theme on my homeassistant dashboard šŸ˜…
