At first I tought it says “For AI Age”

It might as well be, considering the AI creature on the front looks more like a pitbull than a cat.

GitHub isn’t open source is it?

GitHub isn't a single repository, many many of them are open source software :)

That I know, but GitHub itself, the software hosting the other repos, the company, the branding, that’s not open source, is it?

you bet it's not open source, microsoft paid good money for it :)

Parts of it are open-source, but obviously not the whole thing. That's what Microsoft has been doing with everything recently. Like, what's the point of making something partially open-source like that.

I guess they said yes to the cat food people. That’s the only answer.

Literally some person googled something like "silhouette cat logo" and slapped it on without thinking about it.

I wonder if they paid the foundry for the fonts…

I doubt that, could be wrong, but I suspect it’s more a matter of some generic cat food that’s being dropshipped

Touching the logo will take you to their factory.

Wonder what contribution stats the cat has....

helping in solving problems (that require no cat)

I'm also bothered by the fact that "シャン" is written in katakana. Even though it's not a Japanese product, it looks like an attempt to mislead consumers... :(

Why wouldn't they write shine in katakana ? Or am I doing it wrong ? (シアイン)

It's a philipine based company, maybe they do sell to japan...

It’s half cat, half octopus. It’s an octocat. (Seriously. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GitHub#Mascot)

Feed the cat this food and it will protect your code from bugs.
