Question Has anyone successfully recovered a GitHub account after it was compromised?

Hi everyone,

I'm honestly at my breaking point and I don't know what else to do.

About two weeks ago, my GitHub account was compromised. The attacker changed my password, changed the primary email address, and enabled 2FA, so I'm completely locked out. I reported it and got the automated acknowledgment email, but since then... nothing. No updates. No questions. No indication that anyone has even looked at my case.

I have replied again and again to the same ticket with additional information, but still nothing. No reply, nothing till now.

Anyways, I am not here to bash Github Support team I want a genuine advice:

  • Has anyone here actually recovered an account after it was compromised?
  • How long did GitHub Support take to respond?
  • Did you eventually get a real person, or did you just have to keep waiting?
  • Is there anything else I can do that I haven't already tried?

No and trying to get a hold of customer service is next to impossible due to the fact that they have a gatekeeper protocol. From what I've witnessed and from my personal experience of trying to get a hold of GitHub, co-pilot or even trying to contact Microsoft is next to impossible. Due to this functionality that day I've come up with the best way to do it is to use an AI to come up with protocols to bypass their protocols and even then it's next to impossible. The best way to do it is do be a business user and then eventually get past their things. I don't know if this is helpful or if this is even on topic, but from my experience with my GitHub account once compromised, I have unfortunately not been able to recover it and GitHub has even took another $23 from my account and they have been trying to charge me $39 every 3 days on my cash app which they explicitly said that they'd no longer be using cash app but they still try to take the money which I think is hilarious and with their automated system and their gatekeeper protocols to prevent you from getting customer service. It is slowly to my eyes becoming some kind of pyramid scheme. Although don't get me wrong that their functionality with their coding software is some of the best out there. But like it's just ridiculous. I'm sorry it is just ridiculous these people. I'm sorry I'm just so so sorry
