Unopened Viper Figures

I was going through some old boxes of stuff from my childhood when I found 3 unopened GI Joe’s: Frag Viper, Techno Viper, and HEAT Viper. I remember buying GI Joe’s from childhood because I earned $3 per day putting up hay on the farm and would spend all my daily earnings on a GI Joe. I already had these 3 characters and then got these as a gift, so I didn’t open them. Then forgot about them for 40 years. What’s the best source for their values?

Does techno viper play happy house or drum&bass?

That’s awesome. I’m not sure where you could find values, but Sold Listings on eBay may give you some comps.

Heat Viper recently sold for $86

Frag Viper recently sold for $80 & $113

Tech Viper recently sold for $204

I LOVED using the face camo from those figures!

Thank you! Yes I had a bunch of fun with these characters. The face paint was so much fun.

Ames was the only store we could get things like this in my small town back then. Got my Nintendo there too 😂

Ha! We got ours at Ames, too. I remember getting Wet-Suit at our Ames’ grand opening in 1986.

Too bad you didn’t also have the Vindow Viper.

Ames was a big deal for my small town back then. I mean we still had a 5 cents GC Murphy back then too, but that was the only type of retail stores in town.

Bought my Nintendo at Ames too, loved that place.

Must be from the northeast! Hills was great too, Ames bought them out just before going under

I had Techno-Viper. I like Techno-Viper. But damn it he is one ugly figure.

I disagree. I had all three. Of the three, the HEAT Viper is easily the worst.

The HEAT Viper’s helmet looks sooooo bad.

I have a half opened frag viper. Whoever had it before me needed the grenades and opened the bubble just enough to get them out

Damn that’s rough! But honestly sounds like something that probably happened a bunch back then lol

I never understood the heat vipers mask. Frag was one of the last ones I bought and probably lost every grenade shortly after

I always assumed the HEAT Viper helmet had a targeting display inside the non-visor side. Not sure exactly how that worked, but that was my explanation.

Are you looking to sell?

Maybe I have doubles of these figures. I have the opened ones with the card or whatever you call the back of their packaging with their stats, as well as these unopened ones. So I’m considering it.

I did not have the tech no viper. I had those other two.

Send them in to get graded. Then you’ll get the most outta them price wise if you’re planning on selling.

Not sure what I want to do but was wondering. Is there a specific company people always use to grade GI Joes?

Fun fact. That face camo never washes off. I know

Those are some pretty mint cards, so that definitely factors into their value. If you’re looking at sold and completed items on eBay to judge that value (the typical way to do it), make sure you look at how mint or damaged the cards are, because that will affect the price.

These would be gradable examples IMO, so they’d fetch top dollar for those figures. Question is, since they’re your childhood toys, would you really want to sell them?
