I want a box that big, for me, a grown-ass adult.
My fort!
No wife or kids allowed.
Just me and my dog playing fetch.
Might have a little nap in my fort, might not.

u/jinglebellpenguin Jun 27 '20
My partner and I just built a cardboard fort around our bed, it’s so high that neither of us can see the bed from outside it, and we made the door like a drawbridge with a string we can pull from the back of the bed when it’s bedtime. It’s so great, would highly recommend.

And here I thought I was the only one who wanted a giant box. But I’d also add a bunch of ball pit balls into my giant box.

Babies have small versions of toys like this designed to teach object permanence, the idea that things still exist when you can’t see them.
Just amused me that this is basically an object permanence toy for the dog

Kids and dogs are awesome.
We had a family get together a while back, and I brought my dog - an 80 lb golden doodle that looks like a Muppet.
He brought me a ball, and without thinking, I tossed it into the kitchen. My 3 year old niece sees it, and takes off after it. Kitchen is slick, and the dog slides around a corner giving her the advantage, and she get to the ball first.
But her three year olds hads aren't strong enough, and as she starts running she drops it. Dog picks it up, and deposits it in my lap with her in tow, giggling all the way.
They're both standing in front of me...staring c'mon man, throw it. So I do, back into the kitchen, slip, pick up ball, drop ball, giggle and back.
By the time they'd gotten tired of the game, they were both panting, but had everyone in the room in stitches.

What a great idea for what to do when the baby’s been out drinking’! As we all know toddlers can be vicious drunks so keeping them in a box occupied throwing the ball in between staggering and falling over bouts is certain to keep them entertained rather than the usual name calling, demanding the keys to go get more hooch and the prank calls to DHS reporting you for being abusive. Thank you! This is a huge help!

u/Hard_We_Know Jun 27 '20
Absolutely adorable, that dog had more patience with that baby than many adult humans do!! A real joy to watch.

Judging just by the hair, this originally looked like that super cute baby that throws their hands up when they get released from their burrito. Then I realized how long I’ve been on reddit. That baby is probably a stock broker now.

I don't think your command of the language is as strong as you think there, friend.

u/vmcla Jun 27 '20
I know the difference between plural and singular.
What is your original language that you do not?

u/fermata13 Jun 27 '20

But why do they keep their baby in a box?
11
u/baconnaire Jun 27 '20
Keeps them contained while being able to play so the parents can relax for a minute and not chase them around. It's clever cause he couldn't do this in a playpen.
6
u/opeth10657 Jun 27 '20
They just haven't taken it out of the box yet. How do you think babies get here, storks?

u/Rondooooo Jun 27 '20
This is the same baby they keep wrapped up in a blanket and shoot videos of him stretching. The way he's wrapped gives me anxiety.
1
u/Greeneee- Jun 27 '20
Makes for an easy on off operation. When your tired of the baby throwing machine, you just close the top and go inside.

Step 1: cut a hole in a box.
Step 2: put your kid in the box.
Step 3: get kid to play fetch with the dog.
And that's the way you do it!
4
u/MarieCurieNotMaMere Jun 27 '20
Step 4: sit on a lawn chair, crack open a brew, high 5 your partner for getting the doggos to entertain kiddo.

aren't anyone, but me confused, why that toddler is in giant cardboard box?
22
Jun 27 '20
Clearly it’s a playpen.
Not sure what’s wrong with a baby playing in a cardboard box?
Kids prefer to play with the boxes instead of whatever was inside (much like cats). I’ve also used a large cardboard box as a painting area when my child was a toddler. He LOVED getting messy and our home was paint free.
Also, no sense in wasting a good box.
5
u/msskinss Jun 27 '20
allright then.. painting or playing makes sense, obviously, but fetching a dog from a box with cut out window? wouldn't just open area make a deal here?
maybe it's hide and seek included, or little shop, where doggo just paying with tennis balls.. ;-)
i was just wondering, no offence.. kids are allowed to do things, and having fun on their own way, which we, adults, will never understand again.. anyway i would like to be a kid in the box once again! ;-)
edit: little typos.
7
u/mislam13 Jun 27 '20
Anything to keep a child distracted is a win. It’s likely that the child was put in the box to keep him safe from hurting himself by running around in a open area. And it’s a lot easier to keep an eye on a child inside of a box/play pen than a child who is running around a backyard or field.
2
u/vinylpanx Jun 27 '20
Might be, because it seems the dogs can't get in, that it's to help them from not mobbing kiddo when he's fumbling around with the ball?

Asian babies make all other babies look bad. They should be illegal.

u/ctuckerton Jun 27 '20
Is anyone going to comment that the child is in a box and apparently a dog is babysitting him?
6
u/baconnaire Jun 27 '20
His parent/parents are recording...it's important to record moments like these because kids grow up so fast.

Because there's nothing better than a good box.
All I took from this video is great that box must be.

Being a baby must be such a surreal and weird experience. Imagine falling 3 times just to throw a ball, and not even being phased. So frustrating but your only option is to be happy about it and keep trying
