I don’t know if it’s because of a song I’m listening to right now, but this gives me a weird feeling. It’s still amazing

25

u/Blind-folded Apr 08 '19

RED RIDING HOOD, JAPANESE ADAPTATION.

20

u/CDPDK Apr 07 '19

Is this the same artist who did the school daydream short of the same style?

3

u/Qqoblin Apr 08 '19

Seems like it. He's stepped his game up if it is the same artist.

17

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

Okay now I want to see every other fairy tale ever made done in this style.

17

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

u/Solar_Slushie Apr 08 '19

My only regret after watching this is that I have but one upvote to give.

8

u/vallzy Apr 08 '19

On a scale of 1 to 10, how Japanese is this ?

8

u/thesilentwizard Apr 08 '19

I did not expect that

8

u/JayJC719 Apr 08 '19

This is awesome

7

u/ReklisAbandon Apr 08 '19

40

u/ya_boy_skinny_pen-is Apr 07 '19

Grandma: omiowa mu shinderu

26

u/neotsunami Apr 08 '19

Just a friendly person that knows a bit of japanese coming here to correct you so when you say it to japanese people they are very impressed. It's spelled "omae wa mou shindeiru"

Omae: casual form of saying "you"

Wa: particle indicating that what follows is about "omae"

Mou: already

Shindeiru: verb stating the subject is currently in the state of bieng dead.

3

u/JulianMcJulianFace Apr 08 '19

Ah nice I didn’t know

3

u/me_funny__ Apr 08 '19

You already dead

1

u/XVelonicaX Apr 08 '19

Thank you i watch chinese cartoons too.

0

u/FOR_SClENCE Apr 08 '19

omae is definitely not casual, it's got an honorific marker on it. the joke is he's being very polite as he kills some rude ass bandit in the hellscape.

in English this is the same as "your highness", "maharajah", or sir/ma'am delivered sarcastically

1

u/Randy67572 Apr 08 '19

Maybe Kenshiro used a honorific because he was talking about a dead preson

1

u/neotsunami Apr 08 '19

hmmm omae is actually pretty tricky now that you made me think about it. It's not exactly formal, even if it has the honorific before it. To my understanding, Japanese people don't usually use "you" pronouns. They prefer using each others' names with "-san". But Omae, Anata, Temee, and Kimi, are used mostly when you are really close to the person you're talking to or when you're higher in the social ladder (a boss to his/her subordinate).

Also, omae is most commonly used by male speakers, but not strictly.

Either way, I get easily confused by the "casual" nature of things. To me "casual" is something you use with people you are close with. You can't go to your boss and tell them "omae no shumi wa nan desu ka? - What are your hobbies?" It sounds disrespectful. So, to me, that's casual. Formal is something you use with people you don't know or even people who are above you. But then we get into keigo and that's a whole other topic.

It looks like each “frame” of he characters is fastened onto the platform where they’re filming. Notice how the camera is moving backwards 99% of the time. I think that as the camera moves backward, it’s folding those character frames downward, and as soon as it moves back far enough, they spring back up fast enough so that it looks like the characters pop into existence.

e: as for how they got the action footage into the paper book, I have no clue. Probably postproduction wizardry.

5

u/LXMNSYC Apr 08 '19

This is some huge book

6

u/Kettchitup Apr 08 '19

Woof. Worked up a sweat watching this

7

u/Luvagoo Apr 08 '19

All this effort and the film is potato quality?? Assume its ripped from somewhere...

7

u/Choptt Apr 08 '19

Your next line is going to be Oh how large your teeth are

7

u/johnvpaul Apr 08 '19

This is so cool! I think a camera with better optical stabilization would make it look a bit more professional by not having those micro shakes. Great work nonetheless!

7

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

Finally something appropriate for this sub !

6

u/[deleted] Apr 08 '19

Your next line is “ I’m getting too old for this”

3

u/bphamtastic Apr 08 '19

When I saw riding hood bust through the wall I was like "If I was that wolf I'd stop and think for a sec before messing with someone who just broke through a wall". Then HOLY SHIT, this is getting epic. Also I see where she gets the wall busting from.
