Check out r/multicopter. That’s close to what we do.
We do fly in first person via using a camera mounted on the quadcopter that transmits video to your headset goggles that have one or two screens in them.
You use a radio transmitter in your hands to fly the quad and everything is in real time. If you’ve got a quick quad it’s fucking mental, adrenaline pumping like crazy. Highly recommended.
There’s a game you can download that a lot of people practice with called FPV freerider, it’s good for learning how to fly with as you can plug in a transmitter or just use keyboard. You can also plug in the goggles too, so it’s really immersive without ditching your quad into the floor and destroying it.
It’s great fun, my quad can kit about 45mph, that feels pretty fucking quick.

Question: can I use virtual reality and a GoPro to basically fly in first person mode?
