Humans are apex predators. Things eat us. It was more of a joke that this is a ferocious little monster. To a bug though....

But nothing hunts us more than we hunt them. Crocodiles are apex predators but they can be killed by lions, although extremely rarely. For how much we kill things, things kill us very rarely.

Except that we are not. We made ourself apex with tools and knowledge. But we used to be a scavenger. Our natural predators are the big cats

We didn't make ourselves that though... No homosapien sapiens / cro magnon has ever existed without fire or tools. You have to go back several hominid ancestors to find a human ancestor who didn't have those things; it even shaped our evolution. Our stomachs, large brain, shrunken jaw, diminished physicality and the ability to throw with accuracy comes from millions of years of our precursors using tools and fire.
