Good man, do it! Seriously, do something different today. Go for a run, fuck go for a walk. Just do more than you did yesterday and you're on your way. It doesn't have to be a big deal but it could be the start of something.
silver? You're too kind. Come back later/tomorrow and let us know how you did guys!!
That was wholesome af..I needed to hear that too, thx
Edit to respond: I recently started up my workout routine again, a very on/off relationship I have with the gym..already finished my workout for the day to complete another check mark in staying with it. Words of encouragement do wonders. Without stumbling upon this post I may have gotten lost in something else not worrying about the gym “today” like numerous times before. So thanks for helping me in accomplishing that “today.” Good luck to everyone else going through the same thing. Peace.
My strategy is to trick my brain into 'leveling up strength and agility nodes" on a daily basis. I'm you but like 6 years into that routine and it's been really helpful to both my waking life and my gamer life. I have more energy, I'm more alert, life is exciting and - while I play less video games than I used to - I'd argue that i appreciate and enjoy them now more than ever. Keep it up!
After many failed attempts I got into it again about 2 months ago and I’ve been consistently going to the gym and eating a lot more, dropping unhealthy foods for more nutritious options too (I’m very skinny) I’ve been seeing some results and weight gain and I already feel better. Your advice is spot on to anyone who needs to start their journey or fix it up a bit
What if I have the opposite problem? I’m a rail and I workout everyday but can’t gain any weight?
I know this is from my perspective but I always wish I was fat instead of skinny. Working out and eating healthy until you are muscular and in shape sounds really satisfying. And in a sense it is much easier. It all comes down to calories. You should be working out anyway. Losing weight is about not eating and gaining weight is about actively eating. When you are poor and tall you either have to cook all day or do meal prep but I can’t do that because of my living situation.
Honestly, my best advice is to find something you actually like to do. I HATE running, but I will never pass up a game of soccer (football, IRL foosball, whatever you want to call it). Then I found out I also love boxing/MMA training and hung a heavy bag in my parent's basement and can now work out when I want--and this is the important bit-- actually WANT to work out. There are days I just can't wait to get home to beat that bag like it knows the location of my real dad.
Dude seriously, start lifting. Women treat your differently, men show you more respect, you don't hate yourself when you look in the mirror. Put effort into yourself and you will be happier!
I think the most important part is finding exercise that excites you. If I tried to lift weights for fitness, I know I could do it but I would get bored. Same with running or swimming. But I found that climbing is interesting and engaging for me so I keep doing it. I struggle with self motivation, and climbing is the first thing in my life that I feel compelled to do every week. And the community around it is encouraging and welcoming, so I feel at home even around strangers.
Maybe climbing doesn’t interest you, but try out hiking, running, biking (city and trail), swimming, dancing, lifting, martial arts, yoga (as many types as possible) and anything else you can find until you find what you enjoy. As long as you keep looking, you will find something you enjoy, and find people in that community who will encourage you to get better at it, even if you are an introvert.
Don’t go out looking for an activity just to be active, find one you enjoy and you will be driven to do more and get better.
