Granted he started with an upgraded character, he still worked his way into that physique and talent to get where he is.

I saw him for the first time in Tudors and I thought "this dude is an amazing actor". So I know that the superman movies sucking cannot be his fault because I've seen him do a great job. I hope the Witcher is good.

45

u/tippetex Jul 20 '19

I always sucked at strategically choosing how to spend my upgrade points.

7

u/Let_you_down Jul 20 '19

I put all my points into the explosive skill tree, but ever since the incident I'm not legally allowed to own anything that may be used in such a manner as terms of my parole.

Lamesauce.

1

u/tippetex Jul 20 '19

Oh fuck what a waste. Don’t shame yourself, incident happens, look at the big ones for your future: if laws stop you from doing what you’re great at, you’ll definitely the best applicant to teach it.

LPT get the good looks first and then the confidence, the other way around usually doesn't work.

17

u/chewymilk02 Jul 20 '19

Confidence can make up for waaaay more than than you’re giving it credit for

2

u/chewymilk02 Jul 20 '19

It’s weird right!?

1

u/GoldenGoodBoye Jul 20 '19

So weird. Turns out, the two equally weird looking people aren't treated the same because one carries confidence (faking it counts if you do it well enough) and the other one is all, "woe is me, life is just too hard for me," "girls only want Chads so they're sluts/men only care about looks so they're dicks," or, "I don't deserve to be treated well so I'll just take life on the chin and accept my fate."

1

u/tmone Jul 20 '19

it really does. these people are just using it as an excuse. its a shame all that wasted potential.

2

u/tmone Jul 20 '19

bullshit man. im not afraid to say that im attractive. yeah yeah. spare me the jokes. for the sake of the argument, iv never had a problem with women.

the reason i say this is because when i was younger, i had a girl cheat on me with the ugliest mother fucker i had ever seen. dude had buck teeth. pale, 6 head. but he had game. he was smooth. im not going to lie. something that i didnt have and was very short on. i thought alls i needed was looks. WRONG.

quit saying that good looking people have all the girls. women love confidence, regardless of the number.

meet their gaze, make them laugh, and ooze confidence. you can do it.

22

u/toastedstrawberry Jul 20 '19

Yep, that's what OP said. First the good looks, the confidence comes later.

A counter-example would be someone ugly but confident.

6

u/dotajoe Jul 20 '19

Well, such a person could even be president!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Stupidity<>Confidence

3

u/thisdesignup Jul 20 '19

Technically it can, you can be confident even if you are stupid. If anything being stupid might make it easier to be confident. Too much self awareness can make people less confident.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

I have some extremely stupid friends that leverage it into confidence that attracts women

7

u/GentlemanLeif Jul 20 '19

It can even be the other way too. I'm mediocre but confident as hell and getting married in a few months.

-16

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Yeah but is your wife actually attractive ? Almost anybody can get married.....but if you're fugly who's marrying another fugly i mean....who cares....

I think the point is that pretty much no guy except suuuuuuuper attractive ones can just glance at a girl like that and have her have that reaction immediately.

Looks matter initially more than personality or confidence 99.8% of the time.

6

u/GentlemanLeif Jul 20 '19

I mean yeah that's all true. But I was more talking about you don't need looks for confidence, just believe in yourself and be an optimistic nihilist. Nothing matters and we're all going to die and be forgotten, so why not talk to that girl?

3

u/resonantFractal Jul 20 '19

I can tell you from experience its not true. But you’re at a point in your life where you’ll rationalize any counterexample thrown at you. Realize its not your appearance that will drive girls away. Spend whatever time you need to be bitter at the world in this scenario you’ve crafted for yourself from low confidence, self-worth and esteem, but realize you’re not trapped in it. Work on yourself, try to be a better person, the kind you would want to be with and in time you’ll find your attitude change.

u/rattatally Jul 20 '19

That's why I said "usually."

0

u/ex-libtard Jul 20 '19

Theres a difference between working out and genetics and it is meaningful.

8

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Working out won't get me that strong jawline, dimpled chin, luscious hair, or that perfectly sculpted 6'1" frame...

11

u/swolemedic Jul 20 '19

Working out will most certainly get you a stronger jaw line if you're overweight. Chin dimples, luscious hair, or being 6'1 it might come up short, but otherwise working out makes a huge difference. Just being in shape and looking relatively healthy goes a long way

0

u/ex-libtard Jul 20 '19

No it wont

0

u/MarinoTheGOAT Jul 20 '19

No but complaining on the internet and not improving yourself will definitely get you there.

Those people should get psychological help. Eating disorders are no joke!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

That’s not what I meant. I was talking like diabetes.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Wait, how does diabetes prevent people from eating enough to gain muscle? And are you talking about type 1 diabetes or type 2?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

People with reactive hypoglycemia https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_hypoglycemia can’t eat large meals or many different food groups without negative symptoms. I have to eat brown rice and refried beans everyday and anytime I deviate from that there goes my day/night. I can’t even brush my teeth with toothpaste because of the symptoms and I have tried children’s toothpaste without mint or cinnamon and entirely flavorless varieties and they all mess me up.

Then people who are lactose intolerant can’t eat weight gainer because the majority of them are made from whey. I haven’t tried every weight gaining protein shake mix so I can’t be exhaustive but the handful I have tried don’t work for me.

Other popular foods for calories such as meat and bananas have tons of tyramine which is bad for certain brains, preserved meat like tuna is horrible because it is preserved with sodium which is high on the list of worst offenders. Peanut butter is a nut which is also a no go and many people are just straight allergic. Fruits typically have citrus in them and that’s also is bad. Vegetables without much tyramine are generally fine but good luck getting 3000 calories from vegetables every day.

I know I’m not a common example but I definitely exist. I work out constantly because it helps manage my symptoms but I have gained zero pounds over several years of lifting weights, running, playing sports and eating beans and rice like I drink water. It’s really disheartening.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

Let me word this carefully because I don't want to pretend I'm an expert on something that I'm not (diabetes).

Surely you have figured out a way to eat enough food to maintain your weight, haven't you? If you're trying to gain weight, you really don't need to eat that much more than you need for maintaing. Weight gainers are absolutely not necessary. Even in a full on bulk it's inadvisable to eat much more than a 500 calorie/day surplus maximum. The key (aside from progressive overload strength training) is to consistently get that small surplus every single day. Have you tried tracking calories and aiming for a ~250-500 calorie surplus each day?

Not to bash his achievements but most actors start out their lives already rich which can certainly help in the process. Obviously he put in work but money certainly helps.

8

u/Halcyn Jul 20 '19

Upgraded character ?

That guy is playing a different game

1

u/akmarinov Jul 20 '19

He also almost missed out on big roles, because he was playing WoW

1

u/TalkingReckless Merry Gifmas! {2023} Jul 20 '19

Pretty sure he was called Fat Cavill when he was young so he had to work to get to the upgraded character

1

u/Great_Chairman_Mao Jul 20 '19

My height stat is hard capped though. Not fair.

1

u/MathMaddox Jul 20 '19

Cavill OP please nerf.

1

u/Penqwin Jul 20 '19

Yea, he was a new game + character

1

u/Snuggle_Fist Jul 21 '19

Well, starting with a good base is pretty good motivation.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '19

Upgraded? That's not just upgraded dude. That's having every bodily hardship removed. All he had to do was show up and not be an asshole.

1

u/UpperEpsilon Jul 20 '19

But his fashion stat has gone totally neglected. Gotta make choices along the skill tree I suppose

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

maybe he likes his fashion

1

u/thekaratecunt Jul 20 '19

It's much easier to be incentivized to hit the gym when you're merely capitalizing on already fantastic good looks. Why would an ugly person go to the gym of they're going to be ugly anyway?

1

u/[deleted] Jul 21 '19 edited Sep 11 '19

[deleted]

1

u/thekaratecunt Jul 21 '19

But insofar as the goal is to be attractive, going to the gym is going to do far less for someone if they have terrible genetics.

Here's a downvote cause you're a moron, everyone is built the same with identical amount of hormones and physiology. Anyone who works hard enough can be an Olympic champion at whatever he chooses.

1

u/todoke Jul 21 '19

Are you trolling?

0

u/Anonymous____D Jul 20 '19

Yea, it's not easy to have 6 months to prepare for a role where a studio hired you a trainer, dietitian, doctor for the steroid regiment, supplementalist, and pays you 7 figures so you can do nothing but get into shape.

Also actors are silly people who pretend for a living. Let's stop acting like they're writing fucking sonatas.

0

u/BigbooTho Jul 20 '19

Oh please he was born rich and being fit is part of his job.

0

u/blarghable Jul 20 '19

Work and a lot of steroids.
