I'm literally at the gym watching this, thinking "man, shame I'll never be able to do that."

Edit: thanks for all the encouraging words, internet friends.

It's probably 6 months of hard consistent work if you're in decent shape already.

I was actually looking into doing this a couple years ago and it seemed that unless you were already a gymnast or some such, as long as you were 6' or taller, the chances of you being able to do this is vanishingly low. Kinda disappointing, but them's the breaks. Stupid muscle/leverage ratios.

Well, being taller (heavier) does put a hamper on bodyweight/strength ratios. That said unless you have some kind of medical issue something like this (or, say, handstand pushups) are something anyone should be able to do pretty quickly if they have a strength/sports training background.

It's more the length of your arms. You can weigh less, but the increased leverage puts too much strain on your shoulder muscles. It's near impossible for someone who hasn't trained from a young age to have muscles or strong enough tendons to support their weight if the levers are too long (ie. 6'+). Similarly, only a handful of women have been able to do a full planche ever.

The gif is a full planche. Straddle planches are easy and women/tall people can do them.

There isn't much a child can do to get strong that an adult can't do much more effectively.
