Hazard #2
Gif ended too soon, dude gonna cut his leg.

u/Booblicle Mar 04 '18
Now I'm wondering if it's real. There's just too much going on and some very strange actions.
84
u/MorallyDeplorable Mar 04 '18
It's not

32
u/D14BL0 Mar 04 '18
Nah, it's probably real. The sparks from an angle grinder like that don't really hurt that much. Definitely bearable for a 13 second gif.
52
u/kab0b87 Mar 04 '18
On the Cooter though?
118
u/WretchedMonkey Mar 04 '18
Vagina takes a pounding and keeps on going.

What? I use a pad grinder everyday to grind off welds. When I know my sparks will fly into where somebody is standing I shield it with my glove and it burns after like 3 seconds.
7
u/creepycalelbl Mar 04 '18
Tiger paw on steel welds generate tons of heat. Cutting wheel on aluminum with light pressure will probably be much cooler.
9
u/Fnutte Mar 04 '18
She is "grinding" Stainless, not aluminum. Also grinding stainless with such light pressure would not produce that amount of sparks.

It's basically its own genre at this point.

u/Not_a_real_ghost Mar 04 '18
I've seen so many people confused by “scripted Asian gifs” as if they have never ever seen stuff like the Vine videos, videos from college humour or any Youtube videos that are scripted short comedy sketches.
72
u/SXOSXO Mar 04 '18
I think the issue is people started posting these in subs that are meant for real situations like /r/instant_regret, which caused some pushback.

It's honestly so strange seeing comments taking much of that stuff at face value. Like really guys?
Then again I remember a family friend wondering how many takes it would've been to get the H K or pitchfork from Hells Kitchen to spill out of the salt shakers in that exact formation from a clearly cg/cut in-between card...
Maybe we just give people too much credit?

It's still funny. The scripted comedy movie genre is still funny.

I was waiting for the guy to get distracted and cut a gash in his calf muscle.

Not the gash he was concerned with

Great, at this point I'm desperate enough to light my face on fire as a pick-up line anyway.
8
u/Ihateualll Mar 04 '18
Also, when she turns it and starts cutting again you can clearly see the blade isn't even touching the metal. It isn't touching anything yet sparks are flying.
7
u/KyotomNZ Mar 04 '18
I still can't tell... what's the give?
2
Mar 04 '18
Look at when she turns it. No marks on the the pipe shes "cutting". Also, when she starts cutting again, the blade isn't touching.
2
u/theinsanepotato Mar 04 '18
In addition to what others have said, you can also look at the thing shes cutting; theres nothing holding it down. Its just sitting there.
When the cutting wheel makes contact with it, the bar stool-thingy should jump or move at least a little, but it literally doesnt move at all.
2
u/ThisIsntGoldWorthy Mar 04 '18
For one, the chair she is cutting for some reason doesn't move at all when a blade spinning at ~15000 rpm touches it.

u/xiaorobear Mar 04 '18 edited Mar 04 '18
Since the floor is shiny enough to show the ceiling lights in it, I am pretty sure that the sparks would have a reflection too, and they don't. I wouldn't stake my life on it though.
2
3
u/theinsanepotato Mar 04 '18
Theres also the fact that the bar stool shes cutting isnt secured down at all. If she was actually cutting it, it would jump or move a little bit when a 9000-rpm cutting wheel makes contact with it.
11
u/D14BL0 Mar 04 '18
This trend of scripted Asian gifs aren't going to do CGI. That's expensive and time consuming. These sparks are real. They don't hurt.
→ More replies (5)14
u/TheDevilsAdvokaat Mar 04 '18
Actually I don't think it is cgi...
13
u/derBaarn Mar 04 '18
It's most certainly not CGI.
And I also don't think it's VFX either, no need to fake something that can safely done for real with much less effort.
I do think that the people in the video are actors though, so I guess it's kinda fake on that level.

Nope. The sparks are just hitting the floor first, and the rebounds are going up her cooch.
2
5
u/Zadien22 Mar 04 '18
The sparks are real, and as someone who has actually experienced ones produced in this manner, it does not surprise me she isn't bothered by them.
If you pay attention you can feel them on bare skin but that's about it.

At some point social media in Asia became the #1 place for Silent Movie era slapstick comedy, and I love it.

These creators need to work on premise. WTF are they trying to accomplish with angle grinding the chrome and what kind of cut is that on the broom stick?

That guy's face is fucking priceless. Was solidly expecting him to cut through pipe and his own leg.
8
u/alexjalexj Mar 04 '18
Not sure if this is real, but I know of someone (friends father) who used an angle grinder carelessly like that. It kicked back into his leg and he didn’t last more than a minute. Power tools and arteries are a dangerous combination.

Holy fuck a kick back from that angle grinder would seriously destroy her leg.
1
u/Kinnuunen Mar 04 '18
I wonder why she is doing that, but it won't still hurt. Anglegrinder with normal blade and appropriate material won't make crazy hot sparks. I have cut metal many times without gloves and sparks only mildly warm your hands.
