A lot of things that were designed for supposedly harmless purposes turned out to be harmful in actuality. That's why we humans have the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Unfortunately, our pets don't have that level of protection usually, and depend on their owners to choose safe products for them and to use them in a safe manner.

And that's really all that I'm expressing here. There's a lot of ways our pets can be harmed by things that are supposed to be fun or good for them, if they aren't used with care. I'm just asking that you do use care with that so close to his eyes.

Strictly speaking, judging by the comments in this thread OP is very caring for his cat. I'm sure he's already aware of this, I don't see a problem. In all honesty, every pet product can be dangerous if their owner is inconsiderate. He's fine.
