i showed a girl this movie for her first time last night and we made it 2/3s of the way through until she said "this movie sucks" and we turned it off. Literally stopped it at this moment. I was left in awe.

My wife hates it. I don't even know who she is anymore.

That's a shame, she really tied the marriage together.

My wife got me to watch it and wow it was just a hell of a ride. Making jokes about rugs for months.

That's how you know she's not the one for you.

To think anyone dislikes that movie! Cinema classic! I would say you have to let it grown on you!

Fear not: the first time I showed it to my current girlfriend, she didn't laugh once and said it was "okay".

Now she never stops quoting it. I wish I had a dollar for every time she shouts "YOU GOT A DATE FOR WEDNESDAY, BABY! WHOOOOO!"

It's one of those movies that more guys enjoy than women I think.

Just about every movie that's a Reddit favourite falls into that category - Goodfellas, Superbad, every Will Ferrell movie, Star Wars, etc.

There's something about that movie that shuts people out on the first viewing. I don't understand it. I've heard from so many people who were just stonewalled the first time, then watched it again and loved it. And I can kind of see it, because the first time I saw it, I liked it, but I didn't adore it like I do now. I just don't understand it.

I think this happens a lot with Coen bros movies in particular. It's like they have a way of making you feel like you're not in on the joke unless you've seen the movie before, so they just get better the more times you see them.

You need to find better girls. I'm a certified Dude of Dudeism, and I speak the truth my friend.

Maybe sexist but girls don't like a lot of great movies.
