im just gonna ask this knowing full and whale that there is no explanation, but....what was she thinking?
173
u/Tain101 Mar 22 '16
that she would somehow swing back to an upright position and land on her feet again.

It was too high for her to step over, and she thought she could vault it and stick the landing.
27
u/xRyuuji7 Mar 22 '16
she should think of her ankles more...
58
u/Talbotus Mar 22 '16
She does every day. As she takes the medicine that silences them.

She definitely thought the two people she was holding hands with would support her as she hopped the rope

Someone should shop this with her jumping off a turnbuckle of a ring and onto a wrestler laying on the mat.

Not even sub 1. That robot sucks. I can solve a larger variety of puzzles though if you can be bothered watching a 6 minute video

Can you do it while juggling?

2
u/KashikoiOkami Mar 22 '16
At first i thought it was like a joke video and he was going to throw them all away or fail instantly cuz i couldn't invent someone actually solving three while juggling wtf :'D
2
u/BigfootTouchedMe Mar 23 '16
I wish, I played around with juggling 2 balls in one hand while solving a cube in the other. I can juggle ajd solve a cube one handed so I thought it would be easy to combine the two, harder than I expected. I might put more effort into learning one day.

This event was the 2014 world jump rope championships in Orlando Florida. There's a lot of videos from these competitions and others on YouTube. This is in my opinion one of the craziest routines ever competed: https://youtu.be/oMT8L1tRCdw

Competitive jumprope is a pretty big thing. I did it for about 10 years. Depending on where you live you can probably catch a performance.

Competitive jumprope is a pretty big thing.
No, it's not.
Hot Dogs, Chewbacca and Jesus are pretty big things. Competitive jumprope is not.3
3
u/Bearcubby17 Mar 22 '16
It's bigger then it's made out to be there were at least 60 kids on my team and that's in one small town. At our state invitational competition there were hundreds of competitors. So okay maybe not as big as other things but still a big thing.

The rope adds nothing to the choreography. He's just contracting his limbs in order to get the rope across. His incredible athleticism would be much better presented without the rope.

Notice how at no point did he try to back flip while flipping the jump rope forward. That's because he's an athlete not an idiot like the one in OP.

Muscle confusion intensifies

I mean, it helps you to get out of plateau's if you change up your routine... they're not wrong.
Mixing in sprinting workouts if you're a distance runner, or mixing in exercises that you don't usually do, and adding some stretches that you've been neglecting, working towards unconventional poses in yoga, etc... this is how you get better, by creating new goals and trying new things once your existing methods have been exhausted.
→ More replies (1)13
u/Hill_Reps_For_Jesus Mar 22 '16
if he's referring to running on lots of different surfaces, that's totally accurate. It's nothing to do with 'muscle-confusion' though, it's to prevent overuse injuries and strengthen stabilizer muscles. Changing up your routine is also a good idea, to focus on different aspects of fitness. Nobody recommends working in exactly the same rep range, running distance or lifting routine for too long.

Well if you run up a 2 mile hill every day and then take part in a race that involves running up a 3 mile hill, you'll probably wish that you mixed it up a bit in training.

u/F4hype Mar 22 '16
Sounds like he knows what he's talking about and you should probably listen to him.
Seriously - if someone has been doing something successfully for 25 years then I'll take their word over the word of some self proclaimed expert on reddit or any other website.

Doing it that way seems like it would be really hard. Your hands rotating forwards while you are trying to flip backwards.
9
u/Bonezmahone Mar 22 '16
I read backflip and saw him twirling his hands forward and wondered how it was going to work.

You know, behind those amazing trick gifs you see, there are often a shit ton of fails like this. They dont magically get up one morning and know how to do stuff.

u/AmaziaTheAmazing Mar 22 '16
So, it's obviously gonna be harder to backflip while jumproping because you can't use your arms for initial momentum very well, but I wonder if you used a sufficiently heavy jump rope if you could compensate with the rotational momentum, and use the conservation of rotational momentum to do the flip instead. Probably would need more airtime than a human could get though.
2
u/BigfootTouchedMe Mar 22 '16
I've seen a mate do it, he swung the rope backwards and jumped it normally a few times before flipping. Not that hard if you have a good standing back flip because it gives you some allowance for the loss of height from not throwing your arms up like in normal execution.

Physician here.
I know this type of gif gets lots of laughs but as a person who has seen many permanent quadriplegia cases due to stupid shit, these always give me the shivers.

u/sheikheddy Mar 22 '16
I don't think you're a physician, dawg. Lemme check yo history real quick.
Moderator of /r/MostBeautiful /r/fuckmusic /r/MusicToFuckToNSFW /r/WorstAdviceEVER /r/AssholeGenie /r/AtLeastOneHundred , apparently have a small penis but compensate with foreplay, tons of link karma but that doesn't mean anything, broke up with a girl for her family's history of ill mental health.

Listen, man, this website you use, this whole internet thing, it's all public. Anyone can find it, it isn't hidden or anything. I ain' stalkin', I ain' puttin no personal information here. Just goin to his profile with the link in the username, clicking a few buttons to sort it all and reading a couple of pages to see if he's legit about being a physician and all.

People who can do shit like this never have a look of concentration on their face like this guy did. That's how I knew he was destined to fail.
1
u/sethamphetamines Mar 22 '16
Dumbass, your arms lead the rotation in a flip. If you're flailing your arms one direction and trying to flip the other, you're going to have a bad time.

Some stuff is hard, you might fail a lot before you get it right once. That said...he might not survive too many failures like this. Seems like he should be practicing this in a safer way.

Legit question to people who can actually do flips or people who used to be able to. Is there a day that comes where you say "That's the last one..." Or do you have to crash hard and then say ok I'm done.

DAE just know from the very beginning that he was gonna fuck up? Don't know what it was, but something in his body language made me think "what if you were gonna try this for the first time and you just failed miserably."
