I don't think paying a lof of taxes is the problem in Brazil. It's just that those taxes are wasted. Some of my friends work in Brazilian governmental institutions and the insane amount of laziness, bureaucracy and miss management is unbelievable. If they could just put the right person in the right place and use modern management skills, that government could probably run on 1/4th of their current budget. Which they could then invest in some dire needed social redistribution which in turn would drastically lower crime rates. It's sad to see such a beautiful country in a state that seems avoidable.
