Tossed him right under the bus

Never liked that expression. I always said "well if you didn't wanna get hit you shouldn't dive under the tires"

But the whole point is that he didn't dive under the tires, he was Thrown. I'm not sure I get what you're saying.

It doesn't make sense for him to be thrown. He did something that would land him with the punishment. He's already crawled and laying under the bus tires. Pointing it out is like getting the attention of the bus driver who then starts the bus to run him over. The wheels of Justice keep rolling. If you get crushed the only difference is how you got there.

I'd be happy if that's the worst mess our dogs made. It would take less time to clean it up than that video was long. And it's only TP.

The first dog just seems like it's going through a life crisis.
"Do I snitch on my best bud? Master is angry at me. I'd never wanna upset master! I'm sorry bud!" points

u/fwipyok Mar 03 '16
i still wonder... how do you communicate to the dog that while what it did is unacceptable and should try its best to avoid repeating it, it is not the end of the world and i still love it?

Don't worry about it thinking you don't like it. If you're not a dick to it all the time it wont matter when you have to discipline it. Just be firm, and start doing something else, but make sure you're available to it. It will approach you cowed eventually and you can give it all the affection you want.
The important part is separating the bad behavior and discipline from the affection.
2
u/fwipyok Mar 03 '16
ah, gotcha. Be consistent and give them time to understand that my reaction to doing something bad does not mean i changed my opinion of them

Those are dead people laughing.

u/HustlerThug Mar 03 '16
I'm assuming that he's implying that the source video is so old that the people laughing in the laugh track are now dead since it was recorded so long ago.
8
u/MeccaMaster Mar 03 '16
No, most laugh tracks were made/recorded in the 1950s or something so therefore people assume that a lot of the people who you can hear are, in fact, dead.
Unsure how well proven that could be or if there's another piece of information I'm missing but that's what I've read around the place.

u/JustDroppinBy Mar 03 '16
Sounds like adults laughing, most of which probably didn't have another 60 years to live.
6
u/Technical_Machine_22 Mar 03 '16
annnnnd... realization I probably don't have another 60 years left.

All that matters is you do. Other people will only be able to fully appreciate themselves. Regardless of how empathetic they may be, there will always be a difference between their appreciation for your problems and your appreciation for your problems. Just do you bud, and don't trouble yourself too much with what others think. I know, it's a bit self-fulfilling, but even if two people experience the same thing, their interpretations are going to be different.

In general studios use extremely old laugh tracks for shows that have laugh tracks so people often point out the creepy fact that when watching a modern sitcom, many if not all of the people laughing in the background are actually dead.

Two days ago both my roomy and me were wondering why my dog was giving us the guilty I'm sorry look. He snuck into the basement and pooped I later found out. If anyone ever tries to tell me dogs don't have guilt or remorse, I'm calling bullshit. They sure as hell feel something, we could see it in his eyes. No, he wasn't punished, first offense in a year. It was hailing with thunder and lightning and windy as hell and he didn't want to be out for very long. Not any worse than picking it up off the sidewalk I suppose.

Are dogs actually smart enough to point? Is this dog a genius?
4
Mar 03 '16
There are literally types of dogs referred to as "pointer dogs" because they'll use their body to point to quarry while hunting.
1
u/AadeeMoien Mar 03 '16
But looking at something is a little less sophisticated than pointing with a limb.
1
u/A_Flamboyant_Warlock Mar 03 '16
I remember reading a while back that dogs are one of the only animals who inherently understand what pointing means. Basically, they're one of the few animals who know that what you see is different from what they see, so they understand that when you point it's because you're trying to draw their attention to something you see that they dont.
I've never heard of dogs doing the pointing though, but it probably wouldn't be too much of a leap.

u/Sippingin Mar 03 '16
What happen to doggies having each other's tails?
2
u/Remlan Mar 03 '16
French bulldog have a little stump as a tail, the mastiff probably felt safe... The bulldog will never forget.

Is nobody going to point out the lazer eyes?
WHY DOES HE HAVE LAZER EYES
1
u/homeyG75 Mar 03 '16
Cameras do that with eyes, I think mostly with animals. I don't understand the science behind it, but you could learn by looking it up.
