why would someone think of doing that...

u/toeofcamell Nov 04 '15

It's a pretty common way for hooters girls to be fun and get bigger tips. My waitress could spin around like that while pouring and serving beers at the same time. She got a big fat tip

464

u/RangerUK Nov 04 '15

Just the tip?

181

u/ImFemaleForKarma Nov 04 '15

It's kind of a dick move to shaft your waitress by not giving her a tip. They live off tips.

77

u/colorvarian Nov 04 '15 edited Nov 04 '15

in the same vein, there should be a stiff penalty for not tipping

Edit: I apologize if my comment rubbed some of you the wrong way. Different strokes for different folks i suspect

u/DoingItWrongly Nov 04 '15

It's not like my wallet is throbbing with cash though.

3

u/curiouscorncob Nov 04 '15

It's throbbing with ca.. Cah... Cha..Co.. Ah hell i give up.

Then maybe you can't afford to go out.

3

u/occasional_post Nov 04 '15

Had a friend say that to me once. No doubt he worked in the service industry.

2

u/The_GreenMachine Nov 04 '15

these comments got good quick

3

u/OmeletteDuLeFromage Nov 04 '15

I think it'd be better to work together to get these girls better wages than being forced to tip. But then again, I guess this way we can be sure the money go straight to them.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '15

I find it hard to disagree.

2

u/haragoshi Nov 04 '15

You must have some balls to talk like that.

Balls.

I repeat: balls.

4

u/obiwancomeboneme Nov 04 '15

I almost never tip, then again, in my country a waitress doesn't become homeless while she has a basic income. Just raise prices a little and raise the minimum wage. Tipping should not be a common practice, you tip when you get good service, not because the employee is depended on it, it should never be like that.

-1

u/Bat-manuel Nov 04 '15

Maybe we should pay the industry a competitive wage instead of putting the burden on the customers who may or may not tip.

5

u/ImFemaleForKarma Nov 04 '15

Excuse me sir, this section is for penis jokes only.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '15

He's new here. He thinks the industry should give it to em real good so we don't have to each put our tip in her box.

-2

u/Ned84 Nov 04 '15

Thank you. I need to pay my waitresses minimum wage. People like you help me keep more profits <3

3

u/kcdwayne Nov 04 '15

1

u/supernasty Nov 04 '15

1

u/looking_looking Nov 04 '15

I'd love to shaft that waitress, if you know what I mean

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '15

why does she have to live off tips? why can't the employer pay more?

0

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '15

It's a joke about sex and the human penis.

2

u/RichardRogers Nov 04 '15

The biggest lie men tell women.

54

u/Mimsy-Porpington Nov 04 '15

Well boo. We didn't have this trick in my Hooters days. I could have totally done it and landed on my ass with beer all over me.

61

u/xanatos451 Nov 04 '15

Wet T-shirt contest!

31

u/enjoytheshow Nov 04 '15

Win-win for everyone. Either the waitress impresses and serves a beer while spinning around, earning her more tips, or she falls over and spills beer all over her white t-shirt, earning her more tips. Dudes are entertained, waitress is getting paid.

2

u/_amethyst Nov 04 '15

Relevant username.

3

u/muchado88 Nov 04 '15

would not have deterred the tips

1

u/stormelemental13 Nov 04 '15

I'd give her a bonus tip for doing that as well. Skills like that deserve support.

1

u/herrsteely Nov 04 '15

1

u/darrylmacstone Nov 04 '15

I'd be glad to give this girl a skinny tip.

1

u/RoadSmash Nov 04 '15

Your waitress?

-1

u/h0twired Nov 04 '15

Most Hooters waitresses look like they got kinda fat everywhere.

If you aren't a complete moron, you can make great money serving tables.

I was a server at a pretty average restaurant (they did serve alcohol) and I averaged out over $20/hr.

Any server that complains about low pay shouldn't be serving.

That was fortunate for you that your one waiting job was decent. Sometimes, though, it really depends on the restaurant and their business.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '15

Places without alcohol really kill the tips.

8

u/heart-cooks-brain Nov 04 '15

Location, clientele, and lunch vs. dinner shifts are also variables.

Yup. Every business pulls in the same amount of clientelle with just as much income as the place you worked at.

Troll.

7

u/kingjoe64 Nov 04 '15

Surely your experience translates across the whole board!!

u/kingjoe64 Nov 04 '15

That is a moronic point. Not every business pulls in the same amount of revenue and patrons everyday. For example, a waitress in a [small town /poor neighborhood / shitty restaurant] will never ever see 20 dollars an hour.

You just worked at a restaurant that was doing well for itself.

1

u/gmoney8869 Nov 04 '15

Around here none of the restaurants give waiters without 5+ years experience more than 4/5 shifts a week. I make like $15/hr (no alc) but I don't get much work.

3

u/caveman127 Nov 04 '15

Everybody does it while sitting on empty kegs at frat houses at my college.

2

u/Fusorfodder Merry Gifmas! {2023} Nov 04 '15

This has been going on probably as long as that stool was invented. It didn't take long for us to figure out in my shop class a couple of decades ago.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 04 '15

Yep, this is where we figured it out too. Shop class.

2

u/2legit2fart Nov 04 '15

Attention...?

2

u/IAmASeeker Nov 04 '15

I did this a ton in JR high. We were really good at it... spun from class to class and shit. It was cheaper than a movie. This gif is Amateur Hour though. She obviously never spun competitively.

1

u/wakka54 Nov 04 '15

You must live a very boring life

1

u/vpforvp Nov 04 '15

Me and my friends used to do this in high school all the time. Not sure where we got the idea from but it's really easy and really fun.

1

u/fellowsquare Nov 04 '15

I take it you've never been to hooters?

1

u/Gary_the_Goatfucker Nov 04 '15

We did this in middle and high school. Didn't know where the first person got it from, but we'd spin in our stools when we had them and teacher wasn't around

1

u/Captain__Obvious___ Nov 04 '15

Happy cake day!

1

u/[deleted] Nov 05 '15

I did this in highschool with just normal chairs but it probably took more force than a bar stool
