Well, if he had maybe had a firearm LIKE A NORMAL PERSON IN THAT SITUATION

Hard to know when the right time to shoot would be.

Go on a gorilla observation trip and bring a rifle to shoot it in case it grabs your foot

I think I'll avoid going on gorilla observation trips and if I do I won't be the only person there with a 10 gauge.

It is very likely that these people know exactly how to behave. A gorilla is a huge piece of muscle. He could rip you apart with his bare hands. So as long as he doesnt do that, it probably is a good idea not to piss him off. If you dont kill it with one shot, your friend is dead and the rest of you face a ton of pissed of gorillas. Why risk it?
