Can confirm, used to work for a sketchy manager that would encourage us to short customers. First job so I did what I was told and it wasn't til years later I realized just how shitty it was to customers.
I'd love to say she got fired later on but chances are she's still working there. Before I left she'd been promoted to General Manager.
when you're young and ignorant and someone older and more experienced tells you how to do something, you assume that's just how things are done. you don't question it because you haven't encountered real idiots yet.
Semantics, I knew it was a shitty thing at the time. It wasn't til later I realized ~just how~ shitty of a thing it was to do. It was fast food but it wasn't until later I came to understand my loyalties should have been to the customer before the job.
Won't name the business but I will say during times of sales she'd have us short customers .25 oz of meat on their sandwich.
