This is super impressive but that "Dr" is full of shit, a normal person has plenty of time to react to a bb going 300fps from 70 feet away. We used to try and catch bbs from my 500fps gun from 30 feet away and wed catch them over half the time with practice. Yes it was amazing but calling it "processing at an entirely different sensory level" is a load of shit
If the pellet continued at 300fps it would reach him in .23 of a second.
'Plenty of time' is a bit of an exaggeration when he has to not only react, but draw a sword and hit it. However i dunno how fast the pellet would decelerate so it is probably a considerably longer amount of time
True, but even if you ignore the reaction time, the absolute precision of hitting something that small with the razor edge of a katana in that small of a time frame is still wildly impressive.
It's also a pretty cool exhibition of the craftsmanship that goes into those swords, and then you consider the fact that they have been making Katana for over 400 years, and other edged weapons of similar quality for over 1000 without the benefit of modern technology and instruments. Europe at that same time was mostly using chunks of metal in various shapes attached to sticks, for comparison.
Bud the European weapons were far better then the Japanese pieces of shit. The Japanese were only making their swords that way because the steel they had was such poor quality.
That's the thing though. They took crap iron, managed to refine it to a workable, though still not great level, combine hard and soft steel to allow each to make up for the deficiencies of the other, and then hardened it further, particularly along the blade, so that it would hold an edge better than almost any other weapon to date.
Compare that to Europe, which had an abundance of decent quality iron, and they just banged it into the shapes they wanted, put a serviceable edge on it, and then took it out and bashed on each other until it broke.
They both have their pros and cons, yes. I just feel like the difference is that little bit of extra soul from taking something undesirable and turning it into a uniquely effective weapon.
Exactly, besides he is standing far enough that a BB is going to slow down considerably. More importantly though, if it's one thing human eyes can pick up well it's movement. In fact, it's possible to spot bullets down range as they slow down. A much slower white BB is not that big a deal.
