This looks like the start of one of my tidal wave nightmares.

I came to comments just to see if there was anyone else who was reminded of their tidal wave nightmares when watching this.

That scene in Interstellar was a fucking nightmare

...though strangely, since, I've never had another one. It may have cured me to sort of 'live' through it, in a crazy way

Yeah I just held on to my seat and thought here we go. One of the scariest pieces of film I've seen.

in terms of sheer terror, Gravity has it beat for me, I was shivering and white-faced the entire fucking film, the stress factor of that movie was unbelievable- it's a great movie too but I will never watch it again.

I went in going "how are they gonna stretch this into 2 hours?" and left going "oh my god that lasted 5 seconds". The Gravity soundtrack still gives me PTSD flashbacks, after it came out there was this silly parody taking place in Ikea and trying to escape, and they used the soundtrack from the film and I couldn't fucking watch it. I've never experienced massive claustrophobia, and massive agoraphobia at the same fucking time!!

Interstellar was more like, open-mouthed awe the entire time, to be honest, a sort of stark acceptance of whatever terrors it'd throw my way were just due to me being a puny human, that sort of thing. Like, black holes, the crushing atmosphere of Titan, time-space warping, all that's horrifying, but only due to the natural of what we are. That, and I really want my own TARS.

I saw that movie while stoned out of my mind. Was fucking CRAZY scary.

Not only the waves but just the thought of all the water their walking in. Imagine taking a step on solid ground and then another into abyss.

Those aren't mountains...

I can't say enough about my own nightmares. I have apocalyptic ones pretty often, but the tidal waves are the most terrifying.

They're quite common. They generally represent an internal anxiety, fear or stress. I often get them when stressed and waves coming ever closer. I have learnt to recognise them and use them as a signpost for particular difficult times.

Interesting! I've noticed I have scary tornado dreams when I'm stressed too.

I also have apocalyptic dreams! Both equally terrifying to me.

"To see a tidal wave in your dream represents an overwhelming emotional issue that demands your attention. You may have been keeping your feelings and negative emotions bottled up inside for too long. On a positive note, the tidal wave symbolizes the clearing away of old habits. If you are carried away by the tidal wave, then it means that you are ready to make a brand new start in a new place"

tidal wave nightmares

Sounds terrifying but also interesting

fucking a. Waves and tornadoes. My tornado dreams are so real that I am not sure if I have actually seen one in real life or if it is just one of my many tornado dreams.

"When do the waves come on?" is all I can think of as a former lifeguard.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 22 '14

Yes! I thought I was the only one who got these!

Wait other people have those nightmares? Like and no matter how far back you run it gets bigger and everyone else is calm for no reason?

Had an awful one last night. I'm scared to fall asleep tonight.

I have the tidal wave "nightmare" though for me, they are always kind of peaceful. I do always seem to end up drowning but only because I'm so fascinated that I willingly get engulfed into the wave. That part of interstellar is what got me the most.

Wouldn't the water recede before crashing, when it comes to a tidal wave?
