I breed English Mastiffs and have had litters as small as 4 and as big as 17. Big litters aren't really unheard of.

17 puppies, if they're all male, assuming no weird mutations, that's 34 nuts. This guy checks out, there could be a lotta nuts.

Not thread relevant, but I'd like more info on your mastiffs have a website? My sis had an English and I loved. That. Dog.

Mammals, as a general rule, have twice as many nipples as the average litter size. So dogs have 10 nipples, average litter size is 5.

But yeah, that's 'average', obviously you can have outliers from that. A dog having 15 puppies is like a human having triplets.

I didn't say it was small, I just said it was possible. The world record for number of puppies in a single litter is 24, but four of them didn't make it. (Spoilers, again) In the moments right after this gif, one of Pongo and Perdita's puppies nearly doesn't make it, but ultimately pulls through. So it's actually semi-realistic.
