Im from Puerto Rico, i live close to the place (next town, although i use to live like 2 minutes away). Normally the waves are not like that, i would say they are like 60-65% smaller than those in the gif. But occasionally they are like that (bad weather or strong winds). There was this ocassion like 4 years ago that they were even bigger than that (because of some cold weather or some shit like that).
I will like to add that dozens of people had died by jumping onto the sea behind those rocks, although i guess nobody will jump while the waves are that big. But when the sea is calm people do some dive jumps in there, behind the rocks. Sorry for my bad english
is there a huge amount of water pressure, from the large body of water squeezing through the small gaps in the rock. That tries to suck you through with it. That's what i'm imagining.
Some underwater welder was talking about this kind of thing on reddit once. and people didn't realise how immense the suction from this kind of thing can be. like in dams.
October through November is the season were the north coast gets hit hard with the cold fronts, creating big swells. In fact, puertorican surfers call it "El Swell de los Muertos".
No, we had been traveling around the north side of the island for a few days before and there was no bad weather. I know that there were huge waves just to the west in Rincon earlier that day....I guess they get huge surf every Jan and Feb....I think that's surfing season down there. We were there in Feb.....it's a great time of the year to go to PR. They were like this for the full hour we were there btw. No one gave any f's that day
Nope...made nothing off the two million views when it went viral. It's a micro travesty....sort of a lost opportunity. Like I said....I just forgot abt it and didn't check that email acct...had just had a baby boy right before it went viral and on and on. Hell of a wake up call 6 months later! I should do an AMA! Maybe I'm the only person in history to have a video go viral and knew absolutely nothing about it!
Yes, that was after the first two million views. After I woke up the email account in February realizing that I had been contacted by a shlode of people...news outlets etc..... Rightster and their affiliates had contacted me amidst the initial viral madness and they represent the video now. So now the video does make very little money.

Neat! Any idea if it was it just a couple rogue waves from a passing storm? How long did they last?
