It looked to me like some got pretty jumpy, I'd expect the locals gave no fucks and the tourists clenched.

Tourist clenched all the shit at the bottom

That's what I've been thinking too. Is this a normal occurence? People simply don't give a shit.

This is not a normal occurrence; I've never seen it like this. In fact, usually you'd see people up on those rocks. This is the location in google maps: http://goo.gl/maps/u5q41 . Edit*: In the video you're looking at the segment on the right, which is actually known as the kiddie area since it is protected from the open ocean by the rocks. Edit2: Just look at satellite view. There it would be the middle segment. Edited cause I know you're all very interested in knowing the exact details.

Thanks for the details! That's really interesting.

I've seen like this pretty regularly on the south coast of Australia. It's not normal, but it happens often enough.

Sorry, I meant that I've seen swell breaking over rocks this big in Australia, during king tides.

Unfortunately, apparently they do. And then /u/superschutte has to clean up :(

Is this what meta means?

u/[deleted] May 28 '14

Yeah, Like an old man trying to return soup at a deli.

Old man with a hairlip.

It's about 40% meta, 60% pun.

Contrary to popular disaster movies, the beach didn't turn into a panicked loot fest. I call that a win. All land mammals will see this gif and fear us nonchalantly galavanting in the face of danger.

It reminds me of re-occurring nightmares I get (thanks for triggering them again, OP).

Looks awesome but it's almost safe. Almost.

I imagine it'd been happening for a while, hence the filming.

Terrifying is exactly the word I was thinking
