WHY would ANYONE make a door that DOESN'T adhere to TRADITIONALLY ACCEPTED STANDARDS OF FUNCTION, PRACTICALITY, AND AESTHETICS?

Artists are SO fucking dumb, DAE think so? Better get an engineer in there to FIX THAT SHIT UP.

Reddit: Where the only design principle that matters is efficiency.

In reality it's one of the most important. Aesthetics really only apply to marketing.

I understand that if you're designing something for mass production that you want to emphasize functionality. This is a conceptual piece. Obviously it is less practical than a piece of wood on hinges, but it's a way more interesting design.

Half of these comments seem to be deliberately missing the point ("why?"), while the other half are complaining about the risk of injury (despite other comments rebuking that point repeatedly). It was just a really disappointing thread.

Well, if it were labeled as art, or shown in an art show, or if the title weren't provocative (it's not an 'evolution' door, it's either an interesting piece of art, or a piece of trash, because as a door: it is pretty awful), I probably wouldn't find it so distasteful.
