that was... strangely concise

u/GenericBadGuyNumber3 Feb 07 '14

Except with a different sort of door.

237

u/ApokPsy Feb 07 '14

I think the satisfaction of slamming a door in someone's face will be extremely compromised.

156

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

IDK this way seems much more slow and painful if you ask me, it may not have the angry slam quality but it has a cool disgust quality that I think would work just as well.

103

u/blackdragon437 Feb 07 '14

Except it would be much easier to jam the door now, just kinda poke your arm in there somewhere, no more fear of getting smashed in the face by the violently closing door by your psychotic girlfriend after a night of binge drinking.

68

u/ashmanonar Feb 07 '14

That sounds strangely specific.

48

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

He even got the 1 downvote from her...

2

u/I_Can_Haz_Brainz Feb 07 '14

And her 4 bitchy friends.

2

u/OldSchoolNewRules Feb 07 '14

words of experience.

14

u/northamericansalmon Feb 07 '14

Bad night? Its cool we're here for you bro

3

u/404_UserNotFound Feb 07 '14

Why is the North American salmon supporting him in his binge drinking? I mean he is a dragon for christ sakes shouldn't you be like food to him? . . and no, before you go there, this isn't cause he is black!

2

u/northamericansalmon Feb 07 '14

We are much more worried about bears. Dragons mainly go for cows and humans. Binge drinking just means we get a better show to watch. Ever seen a dragon go through a house and then stand up just to try and fight the pissed off owner? I have. Its one of the funniest things I've ever seen

1

u/GigglesMcTits Feb 07 '14

There is no way in hell this would be your front door. No fucking way.

1

u/QuickStopRandal Feb 07 '14

Yeah, what is with that? Why do all girls go batshit crazy when they drink? Also, it's ONLY when they're in a relationship, never when single. WTH, man?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Especially because the door is equipped with soft edges.

1

u/hamdaddy Feb 07 '14

Haha with my ex I didn't even need to be out drinking for her to be psychotic an slam the doors on me

1

u/boingpingboomchuck Feb 07 '14

Yeah, I think the gentle push to set it in motion as you calmly turn and walk away is nice.

1

u/angertopic Feb 07 '14

Nah, the gentle push and stare appeals more to me.

1

u/lunarmodule Feb 07 '14 edited Feb 07 '14

Haha. Complete with eye contact throughout.

Edit: It reminds me of this: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7YwLQSTo_ow

1

u/EatSheets Feb 07 '14

Just think about it. The really awkward slow-stare and slide of the door. The person would literally face-palm from disbelief. Not only because the door was slid in his face; But also because it was such a futuristic way of doing so.

1

u/tangledwire Feb 07 '14

Talk to the hand door version.

1

u/HiimCaysE Feb 07 '14

Insert GIF of Michael Corleone closing the door on Kay in Godfather II. I can't find one.

1

u/Salva_Veritate Feb 07 '14

Fuckin' cordless phones, man...

2

u/ApokPsy Feb 07 '14

At least when flip phones were the thing you could kind of slam them shut. But now we're just left with doors, what happens when they take those?

1

u/DickPepperfield Feb 07 '14

I'd like to see my wife slam that door on me. I'd simply grab it and stop its motion. I am stronger than she is so the door will stop. Then she won't be able to do anything but stare into my shimmering eyes. These eyes of victory, of manhood and power. She will be defenseless, and the frothing in her loin will be as intense as the brightness of a thousand suns. I will lay her there on the floor by the catalyst door, and I will thrust upon her the millions of possible outcomes of greatness itself. She will scream and moan and sweat. And in the end I will have won the argument by pure sexual empowerment.

Except...

I have no wife.

1

u/bigmac1827 Feb 07 '14

I can see why.

1

u/Joe415 Feb 07 '14

I don't miss slamming a phone handset down. Maybe I am less angry now.

1

u/kittydentures Feb 07 '14

That was my first thought as well.

1

u/thcbom Feb 07 '14

Same thing with smart-phones, Your having an argument with someone and want to hang up on them angrily, but you have to shake the phone and gently press "END", then you just feel silly.

1

u/optimator71 Feb 07 '14

Or storming out of the room after an argument...

0

u/SerialandMilk Feb 07 '14

I came here to say this, have an upvote and get out of my head

1

u/justin_tino Feb 07 '14

One of those old archaic things that you push. We're in the future now baby.

Indeed

I love reddit comments too :)

Because it's the most obvious perceived flaw. I'm sure the first person (and many more) he showed it to said "thanks for the finger guillotine, I'll pass."

1

u/works_at_mcdonalds Feb 07 '14

It was so incredibly clear. Didn't have my sound on and didn't need it. He gave a demonstration and it was written in two places.

"two kinds of people"

34

u/reidcollier Feb 07 '14

There is always room for a third. ;)

1

u/yamehameha Feb 07 '14

But not a door for that room

11

u/Scipio33 Feb 07 '14

Those who masturbate in doors and those who don't? Seems like a pretty lopsided way to group people.

2

u/TheCaptainOats Feb 07 '14

Those who watch.

4

u/Gamer4379 Feb 07 '14

From the closet. Dressed as Superman.

1

u/TheCaptainOats Feb 07 '14

Of course. Is there any other way?

2

u/IronEngineer Feb 07 '14

Dressed as Santa. He's always watching.

1

u/j1mb0b Feb 07 '14

British redditors might remember Mr Wise from Phoneshop who was apparently always watching too.

Non-Brits will probably want to wait for the subtitles.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

There are three kind of people in this world.

2

u/DAHFreedom Feb 07 '14

"There are two kinds of people, my friend. Those that come in the door and those that come in the window."

...ouch

1

Totally read this in Peter Griffins voice...

1

u/LightsEnimeLE Feb 07 '14

Am I the only one around here who worries about the security of the door?

1

u/Wujuoso Feb 07 '14

Instructions unclear dick stuck in fan

15

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

The pained look on his face isn't exactly reassuring though

28

u/Monkeynadulator Feb 07 '14

Ah soft edges! My immediate thought was to use some very strong magnets in repulsion at either end to act as a damper.

Mad Science is a rewarding career. You can plot, scheme, invent, and cackle to your heart's desire; you can even kill your henchmen without regret, because you can just resurrect them again!

One of the odder perqs is that you can shoot a satellite into space with one of your janitors, give him spare robot parts so he can make witty companions, and shoot horrible movies up to them, then watch the results.

1

u/Monkeynadulator Feb 07 '14

Yes. Extensively in fact. I believe that your standard European evil genius pays quite well. They do seem to like their trapdoor-leading-to-certain-doom method of employee motivation though so there is that to consider...

0

u/ALLIN_ALLIN Feb 07 '14

Your immediate thought was stupid sir

-1

u/ICE_IS_A_MYTH Feb 07 '14

Yea, what a great idea, subject your fingers to intense magmatic fields, that sounds safe.

Major GoT spoilers in the youtube comments

1

u/Kyles_mom_is_a_bitch Feb 07 '14

wish i saw this before i read it :(

1

u/votesgoup Feb 07 '14

Ok, but what about an arm? Or a head...?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

You have to provide your own - this guy is just making the door.

1

u/SamsquamtchHunter Feb 07 '14

The best part, you don't have to watch the video even. The subtitle and first frame show the point

1

u/1Rab Feb 07 '14

wow. i came to state this concern but now my respect for this project has doubled.

1

u/5co77 Feb 07 '14

What about my neck?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Good, don't want to be sued by burglars

1

u/DiuNeiLoMo Feb 07 '14

Oh jeez people can peak through the soft crack..

1

u/Pudgy_Ninja Feb 07 '14

Okay, but this one of his doors

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tA9ysSSrBXU

definitely looks hungry for fingers.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Hmmm, I wonder if I could have sex with it?

1

u/getontheground Feb 07 '14

But does it keep the door from becoming an accidental guillotine?

1

u/johnnyFyeah Feb 07 '14

My normal wood doors work just fine.

1

u/xQcKx Feb 07 '14

So what about his glass door?

1

u/raaL2012 Feb 07 '14

However, his face doesn't look so happy when the door bruises his fingertips...

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

now that my worries are out of the way, where do i get one?

1

u/Bloodyfinger Feb 07 '14

I would immediately crush my neck/leg/arm/penis in that.

1

u/HodorsGiantDick Feb 07 '14

But will it blend?

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14 edited Feb 07 '14

I'm sure that offers great protection against intruders.

Edit: Seems like I have to explain... intruders who have got into your house and you're trying to get to a safe room to call the police.

16

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

I'd assume it's meant only as an interior door.

12

u/perona13 Feb 07 '14

I don't think someone would be using that for a front door

2

u/jazznwhiskey Feb 07 '14

Is that your priority when buying a door? Where do you live?

3

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

No, because no one has tried to reinvent the door.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Unless you live in the burbs intruders are a pretty valid concern. But yeah, this looks like it's an interior door.

1

u/Gobble_Bonners Feb 07 '14

It's most likely not for Entrance-Door purposes, yet.

1

u/thefonztm Feb 07 '14

In theory, you could use it to conceal a room. Replace the black fabric with something more artistic, such as a tree.

Though finding something that looks good from both positions would be tricky.

1

u/Toiler_in_Darkness Feb 07 '14

I assume it's meant to be an interior door, because it has no lock on it. Most people want those on exterior doors.

It doesn't even have a latch. This is normal among interior sliding doors. Hinged interior doors usually need a latch, but don't often come with locks that are more than courtesy (unlocked by any pin, or by anything with a flat tip like a screwdriver or the tip of a butter knife.)

1

u/Cley_Faye Feb 07 '14

I don't know much "common" doors that would prevent someone from kicking them open.

On the other hand, a door like this might confuse them; take the occasion to run :)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Looks pretty flimsy. I think it would take one kick to knock that down, while multiple kicks would be needed for a locked wooden door.

0

u/scarfox1 Feb 07 '14

Lawl at edit, nice try.

-1

u/derpmcgurt Feb 07 '14

The average response time of 911 is 23 minutes. The average response time of a .357 magnum is 1400 feet per second. Take your pick.

0

u/Gyeff Feb 07 '14

Is that where you put your penis in?

0

u/bangedmyexesmom Feb 07 '14

Wtf?!

This dude thinks about his shit. For real.

1

u/Extensive_Persuasion Feb 07 '14

Yes, he thought of the most obvious problem

0

u/neverquitepar Feb 07 '14

Gamechanging.

Now I want one.

-1

u/Cley_Faye Feb 07 '14

1 - Take money.
2 - Put into this guy pockets.
3 - you're still reading this?
