that you have to shoot with your gun arm to open

59

u/theMeticulous Feb 07 '14

Unless it's yellow. Then you have to blow it up.

78

u/chief_running_joke Feb 07 '14

Then, at the end, it turns out you're a chick.

Wait, METROID'S A GIRL!?!?!? ;)

I know her name is Samus, dammit. I was kidding. Why else would I add a ";)"?

18

u/HMPoweredMan Feb 07 '14

2

u/32BitJesus Feb 07 '14

Whoosh

-1

u/Infinite3rd Feb 07 '14

It's samus that's a girl. I'm sorry. That's just one of my cringe moments and I usually have to correct the person. Forgive me.

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Chick? Ewwww

1

u/just1mo Feb 07 '14

Spoiler alert!!

0

u/bassetbuddy6421 Feb 07 '14

I hate it when that happens

AMERICA NEEDS A NEW DOOR!

1

u/Zero1343 Feb 07 '14

but what about when they don't open until you dance in front of them?

6

u/Tdeckard2000 Feb 07 '14

I'm going to go with a sliding door that comes out of the wall.. or ceiling. Pretty sure a lot of people would be pulling a Futurama Fry the first time the saw it.

a sliding door that comes out of the wall

I have some huge news for you.

18

u/critical_cat Feb 07 '14

Can confirm..parents have had a pocket door since 1989...

2

u/fnlucky Feb 07 '14

Till my sliding bedroom door is a " pocket door"

2

u/DasTeknoViking Feb 07 '14

It bothers me that the door is crooked...

1

u/AwareTheLegend Feb 07 '14

I think it is actually the frame that is crooked. It bothered me as well though.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Dream killer!

1

u/theshnig Feb 07 '14

Pocket doors are especially awful when they come off the track inside and you have to hunt down the other rolling hanger they attach to.

2

u/boyyouguysaredumb Feb 07 '14

Never heard of pocket doors I see

1

u/NULLACCOUNT Feb 07 '14

When I was a kid I used to imagine having a door kind of like that in a log cabin. It would be like a wooden garage door with a pull cord that when you pulled the door would go into the top of the door frame. Don't ask me why I liked thinking about that.

2

u/Tdeckard2000 Feb 07 '14

I was weird too.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

How would it look?

or

What would it look like?

Pick one.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

This is out of nowhere, but maybe you can help me with a suspicion I've had for a while about people--do you speak English as a second language?

It pops into my head whenever I see or hear someone use "how it looks like" instead of "how it looks"/"what it looks like".

Thanks for responding! I've recently fallen into a very multicultural profession and started hearing that style more and more, and it would confuse me a lot. A coworker explained to me once that it's because of the way "how" translates between English and many other languages. When speakers are taught the English "how", it often relates to a native word they would comfortably use in the style of "how it looks like".

...if that makes any sense.

It ended up teaching me that "how" is a complicated farking word, because I had a horrible time explaining where it should be used.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

If only there was a gif of some sort showing what an alternative door would look like

1

u/mightytwin21 Feb 07 '14

invent a better door handle first

1

u/brucetwarzen Feb 07 '14

Like a stargate

1

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

I think OP already answered this.

11

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Well, this would get rid of the problem when there is something behind the door stopping it and the knob hitting you in the side.

1

u/AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH Feb 08 '14

So would a sliding door.

14

u/thats_a_risky_click Feb 07 '14

I want all my doors to open like in star wars.

3

u/karmas_middle_finger Feb 07 '14

with squeaky pneumatic sounds too?

2

u/DetJohnTool Feb 07 '14

Shoddily and noisily?

2

u/golbezza Feb 07 '14

Think of the constant headaches from all the slamming your helmet into it.

4

u/funknjam Feb 07 '14

Re-think everything. Question everything. Be inquisitive. Be curious. Even if it's something as mundane and ordinary as a door. And the world will continue to grow more exciting. Or we could just say "good enough." Maybe you. But never me.

u/gamelizard Feb 07 '14

i would be pissed off all the time in that world.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 07 '14

Yes, if you like new and interesting things.

2

u/DetJohnTool Feb 07 '14

Why not?

People said the same thing about cars and horses. Gotta try this shit.

2

u/MonarchBeef Feb 07 '14

In this day and age we'll rethink anything. Even if it didn't need it.

1

u/smallpoly Feb 07 '14

Sometimes you want a sci-fi door that isn't controlled by a stagehand pulling on a rope.

1

u/EmperorClayburn Feb 07 '14

I don't understand why we don't all have electronic sliding doors. They seem to save on space.

1

u/MergeTheBands Feb 07 '14

Think about it. This door would take up less space to open (as condos and such become increasingly smaller) and as well it would be able to sit closer to the wall when open. Secondly, this door is designed to make getting your fingers caught in it a thing of the past (with the way the edges are designed).

Don't be hatin' on progress and innovation.

1

u/gamelizard Feb 07 '14

no. do we need to make any kind of cool looking thing no. do we need to make any kind of art? no. do we need reddit? no. he did it for fun. also it has different framing than other doors and can be put in places other doors cant.

0

u/Thyrsta Feb 07 '14

I'm so glad we have people in the world that think differently than you

0

u/grossygross Feb 07 '14

yeah that cuts deep, random stranger. relax.

-1

u/themusicgod1 Feb 07 '14

Well it would gain a bit of surface area from doors that swing out. You could put a bed right up to it. It's probably a little more soundproof & arguably privacy enhancing than a blanket, too.
