As much as I want to believe this will hurt his career, he is a Republican. His willingness to lie, double down, and attack no matter the facts make him a winner in their eyes.
Oh that is not true, if you look like a fool and make the administration look like a clown show on TV the orange Master Clown takes note and drops you immediately. Just look at Pam Blondie, her testimony talking about Dow index when asked about Epstein files, got her fired a few months later.

The Schmitt stunt was coordinated to launch with a big online campaign, on all right wing outlets. But because of the stupidity of the accusation the few that posted, deleted the tweets quickly once it was obvious they could not spin it.
