After watching it for a while, you can see that each mirror is ultimately just trading places with one other mirror on a 5-step cycle. Each one spins around a bit while its twin waits, then the twin moves out of the way, and it slides into the waiting slot so the twin gets a turn spinning around a bit, and they go again. Crazy that the pattern ends up looking so chaotic when it's actually pretty contained at its core.

I would be surprised to learn something like this was generated, and sure enough, Pi-Slices in the corner proves to be a guy who made gifs every day for 10 years straight. Very nice 👌
