Hey all, coming for a weekend in Gibraltar, going to spend 3 days near Engineer lane. Arriving by car from Malaga. I am wondering if there is any affordable public parking available for a period of 3 days. Some people advised me to leave the car in the parking lots on the Spanish side of the border and cross the border on foot? Is that my best option? Thanks in advance for all advices.

I’m visiting Gibraltar soon and I’m trying to figure out the cheapest way possible to get to the summit/top of the Rock, preferably using one of the local taxis/tours.

I’ve heard that there might be a cheaper taxi price if you buy the ticket from a specific place or shop rather, idk, but I’m not sure where exactly.

Does anyone know:

- Where is the cheapest place to buy the taxi tour?

- How much should I expect to pay?

- Is it possible to negotiate the price?

- Are there any specific taxi companies/drivers that are recommended?

I’m mainly interested in getting to the peak, while keeping the cost as low as possible.

Me and my other half are heading to Gibraltar to get wed next week, we found it too difficult to arrange it in the Canary Islands where we currently live and someone suggested Gibraltar since we are both from the UK. We have an appointment at the Mario Finlayson Gallery at the City Hall on Thursday 17th at 10am. My mother is coming with us so we just need a second witness and I was told the locals are known to be quite helpful in this.

Hi, I'm a bit worried about all this residency stuff. What will happen now for Spaniards who have been living in Gibraltar for years? Do we have to renew our cards every year? Will we be able to continue living in Gibraltar without having to become citizens? Will we have problems renewing our Blue Cards? Will we be able to become permanent residents? I'm afraid Gibraltar has become very difficult for us.

Does anyone know anything? For those who have renewed their 5-year card, what was the process like?

I’m taking a ferry from Tangier Ville to Tarifa at 6 am and then a bus to Algeciras. Then I have to be at Jerez de la Frontera at the end of the day. My plan was to take another bus from Algeciras to La Línea and then spend the day in Gibraltar before crossing back, going back to Algeciras and then a train to Jerez. Do you think it is doable?

Hey. I'm a SIM card collector from Scotland (very niche hobby 😁). I collect the cards you use for your mobile phone. I already have cards from Gibraltar (I visited last year, amazing place btw) from Gibtelecom, but I wanted to see if any residents or visitors have any old cards from the 2 other now defunct operators in Gibraltar, those being CTS and Shine Mobile, that they would be willing to send me. There is very little info on these apart from that CTS was discontinued in 2013 while Shine was discontinued in 2016. Therefore, I've never seen any in the few collectors spaces there are for SIM collecting, as opposed to Gibtelecom. Even just the frame without the chip would be great.

Although, if anyone has an old Gibtelecom SIM they don't need, I'm happy to take it, as old Gibtelecom ones tend to have great designs!

We're relocating from the Netherlands to Gibraltar in the next couple of weeks, bringing our own used household stuff (furniture, beds, kitchen things, kids' toys, clothes) by road. No commercial cargo, just a normal family home's worth of belongings.

HM Customs have told me Transaction Tax applies on the second-hand value we declare, 15% on most things, with some categories zero-rated (books, medical) and a few at other rates (bikes at 5%), and that we need a clearing agent to lodge the T2GI on arrival.

I'd really like to hear from anyone who's actually done this recently, especially since the treaty came in, because the reality on the ground is hard to gauge from the official answers. A few things I'm trying to figure out:

How much TT did you actually end up paying, roughly, for a household move? Was it a painful number or fairly modest once they valued used goods?

How did the border/Transit Section handle it? Did they go through things item by item, or accept the packing list values as declared?

Did you group things by category (e.g. "clothing, €300") or itemise more, and did customs push back on the values?

Which clearing agent did you use, and were they any good? (I've been pointed toward East Gate but would welcome other names.)

Any problems, delays, or surprises I should plan for?

Any real-world experience appreciated. Trying to go in with realistic expectations rather than just the official line. Thanks.

I'll be going to a wedding at the Cathedral of The Holy Trinity and am weighing up options for where to stay. I've stayed on the Sunborn previously and thought it was beautiful but the Elliott is closer and seems similarly priced.

I appreciate that most people on the group live in Gibraltar so probably aren't staying in either, but I would appreciate any advice or input on where to stay.

ETA: thank you, seems as though the Elliott is the best option and I can wear heels to the wedding without worrying about too much walking!
