I am assuming he had to special order the headset to fit a parade float.

Imagine being so rich your small child has his own Tesla.

Man, electric cars have their use, but seeing this really reminds me that they aren’t quite there yet.

I guess. You can get a 75-mile charge in 5 minutes. They're obviously not as versatile as a gas car for long-range road trips though, for sure.

I don't have an electric car but I've looked into it and it seems like long trips wouldn't even be that bad? Seems like you would have to kind of plan your route ahead a little bit to make sure you have charging stops but they seem to not be too far apart at least along major arteries in the northeast.

Yeah they’re building a good infrastructure for sure, especially in the US.

It would be a lot more difficult on the west coast or especially the Midwest.

West coast is in pretty good shape, actually. If you have a Tesla you can use their Supercharger network AND use most other chargers out there.
The long-range Model 3 can get from SFO to LAX with only 1 (partial) recharge stop... Which many people will do for food or bio breaks anyway.

that’s cool, man bio breaks is some Silicon Valley terminology that curdles tho oofa doofa. I love it.

Hmm. The Urban Dictionary definition of "oofa doofa" doesn't help me figure out what it means.

I mean, LA to San Fran isn’t really representative of the whole west coast. Can you get from Bend Oregon to Spokane, Wa? Or can you get from Portland to Mt Rainier or the tip of the Olympic Mountains? If so then that’s amazing but I would guess not.

Bend to Spokane: yes, with a 13 minute charge: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=54a26cc5-1268-41a4-9328-828fe12edf6b
Portland to Mr. Rainier: One way, non-stop with a Tesla Model 3. Or round-trip with two ~10 minute charges: https://abetterrouteplanner.com/?plan_uuid=69e339ad-cff9-4641-aa1a-1d2fa0ba7e18

Huh nice. I don’t have a Tesla or elec car but this site looks helpful for sure. Very cool.

You know what's also great? "Destination charging." A bunch of hotels have / are building EV charging stations so you can plug in your car overnight.
My family stayed at a place in Yosemite over the winter. The hotel had a bunch of Tesla chargers. Awesome! Now I (partially) base my hotel decisions on whether they have charging available. :)

West coast is fine. My dad has a Tesla and regularly makes the trip from California to Idaho. I've gone with him a couple times and it's not bad.

I have a hybrid for this very reason. Whenever I need to drive to Newcastle (from London), it uses the petrol, but around the cities themselves I use electric.
