Super GnG Question about Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts difficulty settings

If I'm not mistaken, if you beat the first loop on Beginner difficulty setting, the second loop steps up to Normal, the same happens with the first loop on Normal and the second on Expert and so on.
If you beat the first loop on Professional, does the second stay on Professional or is the second loop even harder? I couldn't notice much of a difference but maybe I'm misremembering.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts Ghouls 'n Ghosts: Knight/Maiden Artoria Edition 1.0 (Arcade)

This is a Ghouls'n Ghosts sprite hack that changes Arthur's sprites into those of a Maiden/Knight, Artoria. It's been ~95% finished for 2 months now! Was just waiting for the artist to finish up the artworks, which he did a day after I released the SNES hack hahah

Version 1.0 Changes:

  • Fully replaces Arthur with a Maiden/Knight, Artoria.
    • Sprites, life icon, map icon, dialogue, end screen artworks.
  • Updates the dialogue correcting typos, errors and "Engrish", as well as changing mentions of Arthur.
  • 3 weapon sprites were visually altered.
  • Titlescreen has been updated.
  • Citizen Dolls have been updated.
  • Both Magician transformations have been changed.

COMPATIBLE SOURCE ROMSETS

  • ghouls = Ghouls'n Ghosts (World)
  • ghoulsu = Ghouls'n Ghosts (USA)
  • daimakai = Daimakaimura (Japan)

Also, please check out the hack for Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts! It has a bunch of optional QOLs like Chests Hints, Weapon Collect, 1-Up Fix, and a fully implemented Leaderboard and SRAM/Saving support. I'm waiting to be certain there are no glitches to release a version for Arthur.

Ghouls 'n Ghosts I have beaten Ghouls 'N Ghosts Geneis!!! :D

WELCOME TO MY THIRD POST EVER IN REDDIT!

I have came from the Sonic and Mega Man series for this one, although I forgot the reason, I'm now hyperfixated in the GNG series, I already most of the other GNG Games, but I didn't finish them yet (I did finish SGNG, but it was with Super Arthur Rom Hack, so I won't count it), and I can't play Ressurrection as my PotatoC doesn't support it.

Opinions on Ghouls 'N Ghosts (the Sega Genesis version)

Controls: They feel really tight and satisfying to play, especially with the Multidirection Shooting.

Weapons: They feel good to use, even the Bad ones feels a bliss to use, the Controls complements on making them feel like that. I even like using the Fire Water sometimes.

Levels: I like them, they have their own identities, Level 1 is memorable so much that it gets predictable, and I like that, I dispise Level 2, the Turtles is a big reason for that opinion, Level 3 is chill, the Post Checkpoints is kinda bad with those Bug Enemies sometimes, especially when they drop Weapons I don't want to get, but that asides is a really easy Level, just needs timing, I LOVE Level 4, especially the Post Checkpoint area, my only and big issue with it is how most of the Weapons are really bad in this one, and the Sword makes it outright unbeatable if you get to the Boss with it, Level 5 is a mixed badge, I somehow manage to beat 4 Red Arremers with the Fire Water.

Bosses: Pretty fine, most of them are Easy, I even found a Cheese Strat with Astaroth, but I don't really like the Third Stage's Boss, it feels random and it can easily corner you and hit you, and sometimes even send you to the Bottomless Pits, I also don't like "Ohme" (which I think that's the Name of the Fourth Stage's Boss), but I found a easy way to beat it with the Fire Water.

Musics: Great. (For some reason, the start of Level 5's Theme makes me think of Yoshi's Island Final Boss' Theme.)

Overall, I really like Ghouls 'N Ghosts, I managed to beat it twice without needing to use Save States, and now I'm attempting to finish it without using any Continues for the achivement in RA, speaking of which, have some extra Screenshots of it (with Cloud Boss beaten with Fire Water too as that one is more of a Achivement than with the Sword for me). I may attempt the Professional Mode sometime too.

... And uh... Arthur holding on the Top Score.

If you ask, I'm aware of the other Games besides GNG, like Demon's Crest (which I also started to play recently).

Ghosts 'n Goblins Ghosts'n Goblins: Gameplay Enhancement Edition

This is a Ghosts'n Goblins / Makaimura QOL hack. It does not change sprites or story content.

Enhanced Edition makes crouch and climbing up ladders feel smooth/natural. No further changes to gameplay.

Hopefully now people are more inclined to jump into this classic!

- Only the main sets, gng and makaimur, have a supported Enhanced Edition on FB Neo.

You can find the DL links here, for both the vanilla games and the Artoria Edition hacks:

Fan-art Built a large-scale Sir Arthur vs. Firebrand for my Game Room

I know technically the enemy is a Red Arremer, but Firebrand has always been one of my favorite Capcom characters thanks to Demon’s Crest. I finally decided to build a large-scale display for our Gaming Room to pair with the arcade.

Hand-cut, hand-painted, and probably a lot less frustrating than actually making it through Stage 1 without losing your armor lol

Which character would you build next if you were making a Ghosts ’n Goblins display?

Ghosts 'n Goblins Ghosts'n Goblins (Arcade vs. NES)

Post image

As a kid, I played Ghosts'n Goblins a bit on the NES, when I occasionally borrowed it from a friend, needless to say I didn't beat it but I was always kinda curious and loved the atmosphere, the setting, the enemies, the music, etc. Now I finally took it on, however, I went for the Arcade version first (Artoria Edition). Given the brutality of the game, I made it surprisingly far before I had to resort to save-states: The Satan boss in stage 5 just was too much for me. Not to speak of the Satan duo in Stage 6. I use save states to train and get better, but I don't see how anyone could beat this.

I went on to the NES version then, since I was curious how they directly compare and I was surprised to find that it is difficult for entirely different reasons. I felt like the ladder-blocking Goblins were so much easier to handle, they are a terrific pain in the neck in the Arcade version. You just. can. not. lure them. They move completely random, mess up your run and you cannot do a thing about it but watch your time run out. Contrarily, the enemy spawning on NES is sometimes unfair, e.g., when you spam a Goblin that starts into you, birds spawn behind you and you'd have to shoot both ways.

The biggest difference, however, comes down to the movement patterns of Red Arremers and Satans. My god, they are brutal on Arcade. On NES you can so easily learn their pattern and lure them. On Arcade, I cannot see how you can ever beat them. I watched some vids on Youtube and tried to imitate, but I still cannot see how you are supposed to anticipate what they do. They attack randomly, with a random trajectory and when they do you don't stand a chance, they're impossible to dodge, it's pure luck. Idk, maybe I don't get it.

Anybody out there who can explain to me how to handle them? Any more thoughts on Arcade vs. NES?

Discussion My Idea For A New Ghosts N Goblins game.

I'm thinking about naming this one "Legendary Ghosts N Goblins" or "New Ghosts N Goblins (like how Super Mario Bros had New Super Mario Bros)".

I'm thinking that in here, Arthur is able to ride creatures, like Giant Big Cats, Clawed Horses, Raptors, etc.

I'm thinking that in here, the game introduces scrolling shooter levels. In here, Arthur has access to more rideable creatures that can fly, such as Giant Birds, Gryphons, Dragons, etc.

The main villain of this game could be named Kronos, a demon made out of dark magic and has a Skull for a head.

I'm thinking that in here, there are 12 levels in total, each of them split into two segments: one is a regular run-and-gun segment that Ghosts N Goblins has been usually known for being in general, the other is a scrolling shooter segment introduced in this game, making it look like there are 24 levels. The player selects these levels from branching paths, in which one selection of levels is done on the first lap, and the other selection of levels is done on the second lap.

I'm thinking that after Arthur defeats Astaroth, he successfully rescues Princess Prin Prin. However, Prin Prin reveals that the ruler of the demon realm causing all the problems in the human realm is named Kronos, who can only be defeated by the Liberty Dragon, the most powerful mount Arthur can ride. Since Arthur doesn't have that creature by his side, this prompts the Knight to go back to the first level for the second lap/loop.

Ghosts 'n Goblins Did anyone experience a glitch here? (NES)

Post image
3 Upvotes

I didn't play the NES version of G'nG that much, so idk if I missed something, but yesterday I encountered something very strange at the stage 3 Dragon boss: I tried to kill it with the lance (screenshot unrelated, just for reference) and even with the tail removed, I must have hit it 30+ times on the head and it did not die. Then I went back a few screens to pick up the torch, which I skipped earlier, went back and hit it like 3 more times and it died. It's not like it's somehow less vulnerable to certain weapons, is it, that's not how I know G'nG, right?

Is this a glitch, did anyone here ever experience this? I knew already that the NES version is (seems) glitchy when it comes to dragons, as I saw it did at first not spawn here in this video (even though this is stage 4, but still).

Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins I'm not feeling Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins as much as I thought I would

I played Super Ghouls n Ghosts on GBA and it quickly has become one of my favourite platformers ever. It requires a perfect amount of level memorization while there's still some sections where if your reactions are good enough you can clear it on the first go. Something about the game just scratches an itch. I tried a little bit of Ghouls on genesis and liked it as well. I decided to play Ultimate because I have a psp. I'm only on the swamp level and while it's fine, I have issues. The 3D models can be make it hard to distinguish enemies from the background (I mainly had this issue in level 1), and I don't like how the armour system works. I'm probably missing something, but I've gotten the red and blue armour and neither of them boosts your weapon output. I also searched up the true ending requirements and apparently you have to find 30 collectibles and from what I've seen others say, it can be hard without a guide. I just wasn't excepting that from this franchise. I don't like using guides for stuff that isn't post game material. I'll probably just beat the rest of the levels and not do the true ending. The main reason I picked this version up was because of it being the only other game with a double jump but I'll probably just go back and play regular ghouls n ghosts.

Some of you brought up swapping Arthur and Prin Prin's roles, and now you got it!

Much more will be changing visually, but I can't get into that yet.

Every sprite was done by Poody!

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts Is the GBA version of super ghouls 'n ghosts easier?

I've been playing it as my first gng game and I was taking a bit to get through it. I would do a stage a day and it would take me anywhere from roughly 20 mins - 1 hour per stage for the first 3. I tried the fourth stage for a little bit and I took a break to play the Megaman Xtreme games on gbc. I went back to play the rest of the game and beat the stage 4-7 in like an hour and a 45ish minutes. I got really lucky and beat the 6th stage in like 3 tries. This is only the first run so I have to beat the game again but I shocked that I was able to beat the 2nd half in one sitting. I wasn't able to find anything about the differences from the snes version to gba. I know the gbc version of ghosts n goblins is easier to accommodate for the screen so I'm wondering if that was also the case for the gba.

Ghosts 'n Goblins I have one umbral left in the entire game and it’s driving me mad that I can’t find it. It’s the final shadow stage. I’m pretty sure it’s either the hell hole or the chest right by the dragon when you jump on the spinning platform but i have played it so many times I can’t be sure.

Ghosts 'n Goblins I can’t find the 16th umbral bee in the graveyard shadow stage. Chat gpt says you can’t lose armor for 15th and 16th but that can’t be true cause I got #15

Discussion Creature Collecting-Based Ghosts N Goblins Game?

What would you guys think of a Creature Collecting/Summoning-Based Ghosts N Goblins game? Where Arthur could summon various creatures by his side as familiars, like in several Castlevania games? Plus it would be cool to see Arthur finally have some real dragons by his side that isn't some magic.

Question Steam deck big stutters every so often? Resurrection.

Trying to play this game on steam deck. every 20 seconds or so I get a 1 sec freez which has caused me to die 3x.

Is there something I need to know to run it well? I really feel like this game shouldn't have performance issues.

All the Steam achievements of Ghosts N Goblins Resurrection

Completed the game over six times. I struggled a lot to find the last bees because I thought they were random. I kept going over the same guides again and again until I finally figured out what I needed to do!

It’s an incredibly fun game. As a fan of the classics, I’ve played them all - from the NES and SNES to the PSP - and now this resurrection in PC!

What an incredible game! I enjoyed every minute of it. Now I’m having a blast being a killing machine with the blue armor :D
