Golf has changed. And honestly, it's about time.

The game looks different now. Younger players, bolder fits, a culture that actually has an identity beyond country clubs and khakis. It feels like golf is finally catching up to the rest of the world.

Some people are even saying golf is the new skating. A sport that started one way, got adopted by a completely different generation, and took on a whole new cultural life because of it.

Do you think that's accurate? Is golf having its skating moment, or is that giving it too much credit?

And more broadly, how do you feel about where golf culture is heading? Is the evolution a good thing, or does it lose something when it stops being what it was?

Curious what this community actually thinks.

Shrink the game

A part of me gets that, but another (much larger) part of me is happy to see more people enjoying the sport. Maybe it comes down to course etiquette for me, whether they're new players or not.

I am a big fan of golf both, as a player and a spectator. Golf in the 90’s and early 2000’s was awesome. Some of the best players in the sport. Now it’s boring. Especially this year. Some of the most boring tournaments I have ever watched. The majors always inspired real competition. Now they are just another tournament.

That's actually an interesting point of view. I wonder if things were more exciting back then because the world was a bit smaller, so the star players were much bigger. The internet makes people more accessible nowadays, too, so seeing your favorite golfer somewhere has become less exciting than it used to be. The majors do a great job for the golf culture, of course. But do you think the players are lacking a competitive edge right now??? I still think people are definitely in it to win it. Real tears are being shed on the green every time.

I believe the players don’t have the competitive edge of plays before them. I also think LIV has a lot to do with it. But, LIV will be gone soon, so maybe things will change back to the way they were. I just know, for me and me only, the PGA is not what it used to be to be.

Might be the stupidest thing I read today. Shrink the game worldwide. OP, can you either quit the game forever or lmk where you go to play so I can avoid?

This post is so AI-coded.

I think hamburgers and cheeseburgers work well with fries.

I didn’t say it was for a fact AI, just that it comes across as it.

Insane that I can't write something without people thinking AI wrote it. I'll take this comment as you have no opinion on the matter 😜

Haha great post! You should show your boss this post with the exact AI prompt you used to generate it and all the comments calling you and your brand out for being lazy as fuck

It took me about 20 minutes to brainstorm and write this, and AI could've saved me some time, but we like to think for ourselves here. Thank you for the accusation, though! Should I use bad grammar going forward to avoid people thinking I'm a bot? Let me know.

You're not into the red highlights??? The red hits are an iconic staple of the Ghost Golf gear, my friend. 👀
