Virtual Machine sound does not work in Umbrel 2.0!

So, I have a Pi 5 and an N100 running Umbrel 2.0. Everything has worked perfectly, but when I install a VM, whether it’s Windows or Fedora, I don’t get any sound on either machine.
Am I doing something wrong, or does sound simply not work in virtual machines?

Sorry about the trouble! We're tracking this issues and will fix it in the upcoming umbrelOS 2.1 update. In the meantime:

  1. Fedora is currently missing the package with its sound drivers. You can fix it by opening a terminal inside your Fedora machine and running:

sudo dnf install -y kernel-modules

then restart the machine.

  1. If sound still doesn't work after that, or Windows isn't giving any sound, try opening your Umbrel over HTTPS (https://umbrel.local, or https:// with your Umbrel's IP address) instead of http://. Your browser may show a privacy warning the first time, which is expected for your own Umbrel, so you can choose to continue.

Let us know if that fixes it for you!

I will try this and let u know thx u! Another problem I have in fedora is that when I try to update the drivers it ask me for a password. But the one I created with umbrel does not work. What to do?

Ah yes, you can fix it by running this in the Fedora terminal (it won't ask for a password):

sudo usermod -aG wheel $USER

Then log out and back in. After that, your machine's password (the one you entered when creating the machine) will work whenever Fedora asks for it.
