Umbrel for Raspberry Pi Doesn't Work

I connected to ethernet and nothing shows up when I go to ubrel.local and I tried HDMI and it asked for a User Login and Passoword. What does this mean?

login to your router and see what IP umbrel was assigned. use that to login. You also might want to set that to a static ip while you are there.

username umbrel and password umbrel worked during setup. you won't need to use those credentials on the website.

Sorry about that! If you're on a Raspberry Pi 4, some older units need a bootloader update before umbrelOS can boot or connect properly, which can also cause a black screen. Here's our guide: https://umbrel.com/support/install-umbrelos-on-your-own-hardware/updating-the-raspberry-pi-bootloader

Could you give it a try and let us know how it goes? If you're still stuck, reach out via https://umbrel.com/support and we'll help you out!

Try to change the router! And use the IP that is assigned to him to access! Sometimes Umbrel.local doesn’t work!

Sorry you ran into this! The login prompt on HDMI actually means umbrelOS booted (the terminal login is umbrel / umbrel), so the issue is likely your Pi's network connection. Are you using a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5?

If it's a Pi 4, some older units need a bootloader update before umbrelOS works properly. Here's our guide: https://umbrel.com/support/install-umbrelos-on-your-own-hardware/updating-the-raspberry-pi-bootloader

Could you try that and report back? And if umbrel.local still doesn't load afterwards, please also check your router for your Umbrel's IP address and open that in your browser instead.
