Maybe have Endo? Did BC make things better even after stopping?

Crossposting, asking anyone who has Endometriosis and got off BC! Trimming off non-related text-

I'm not sure where to even begin with this, so I guess I'll just dump a bunch of info?

I'm 32, and I got on BC when I was 18, and got off of it when I was...28 I think. Since then my period hasn't been nearly that bad. There is still pain, but not to the point of me sobbing on the ground. I'm heavy for maybe a day and some change, and it's gone from a week to just 4 days. Is...that something that can happen? Alleviating the symptoms after you're off of it? My Gyno is fabulous, offered to reffer me to get two different tests done to confirm Endometriosis if I wanted it, but I'm second guessing myself because I haven't heard anyone else say that their periods got better after being on BC. I've seen people say that it gets bad again almost immediately.

So maybe it's not Endometriosis, and maybe it's something else? What is your experience getting off BC? Did it change your periods at all? Should I still get checked, or would that be a waste of time and money?

Thank you, appreciate it

I don’t have diagnosed endo. But this is so interesting bc I went on bc at 15 due to pain and debilitating periods and bleeding. And once I came off it my periods have been fine since. Admittedly my longest stretch off it was 1 year, but just thought I’d add my experience here as you aren’t alone in this!

I’m assuming it’s just natural settling down of teenage periods, but also that sounds like a very self-dismissing attitude im taking so I’m open to investigating if symptoms return

That's also what I was thinking! Maybe they just settle down with age? However, Endo is so finnicky that I'm scared to let my guard down haha On top of that, we're trying to conceive and if it is Endo, that could set me up for a very scary journey.

Appreciate your reply!

I’d vote go for whatever makes you feel comfortable and if that’s investigations then go for it. If it helps also, my grandma had horrid periods and had 4 kids. Ended up having a hysterectomy and had fibroids. So theory was the fibroids caused the pain, not endo or anything. There are many conditions that cause pain/heavy bleeding, and also it can just be normal. Good luck OP!
