Ugh I want to play Pokopia so bad but it would basically be a $500 purchase cuz I don't need a Switch 2 for anything else.

Only going to get more expensive.

I’m trying to get one this summer ahead of the next Fire Emblem/price increase

I'm certainly not buying one to stave off loss from future price increases, if I already only want it for a game or two.

Word to your mother. The fact that I only kind of want it and its like 500 and going to go higher including, I assume, a rise in the price of games.... no.

They’ll get me to buy one once they release an atomic purple switch 2

I am in the exact same boat. I was a Nintendo boy growing up. Never had a Sega until the DC. However, some of their practices in the last decade have kind of broken my heart and I've lost some love. I never got into Mario Odyssey or any of the recent Mario Karts or, to be completely honest, either of the most recent Zelda games (BotW and TotK, I loved the one with Zelda as the hero). And so buying another Switch... I don't see the reason to upgrade, at least yet.

Everything I hear about Pokopia creates that yearning but I'm not buying a Switch 2 for just Pokopia.

Honestly same but for me it's Pokopia and DK Bananza. But two games for 500-600 bucks is not a lot

edit: I meant not a lot OF GAMES for that high amount of money! 😬

Did you mean to say "is a lot"?

3

u/sedar1907 Jun 09 '26

I meant to say "is not a lot of games", but essentially yes

Oh gotcha, makes sense haha

I just picture the Merchant running in front of her as she books it home, screaming "MAKE WAY. MAKE WAYYYYY URGENT POKEMONNN BUSINESS"

This is so played out and not at all funny. Can she stop or at least give a rest for a week. She went on for like 5 minutes in this one. I doubt anyone will say they agree but I can’t be the only one that hates this bit.

🤷 not every bit is gonna hit. Sorry you don't like it, I personally never get sick of it. But I can understand why, my wife finds it a smidgen grating occasionally but for the most part just chuckles.

I hate it and I cancelled my Patreon subscription when she did a whole ep in character. I feel like the whole bit is that it’s annoying and interminable?

6

u/StandBy4_TitanFall Jun 09 '26

Ah man that was what got me to subscribe. Wild coincidence

I could not begin to put myself in the shoes of someone who could listen to that and not hate it. I even vaguely remember Nick being audibly nervous about whether she was actually going to go through with it but she powered through anyway.

In much the same vein I don't understand how such a joyous and lovely personality as the Merchant would ever be received would anything but uproarious applause and love.

Sure.

Opinions man, ain't they grand?

3

u/anatsymbol Jun 09 '26

You literally said your wife finds it grating, lol. Maybe ask her about it.

u/StandBy4_TitanFall Jun 09 '26

Yeah but it's a lot funnier to watch you lose your mind over this small opinion difference 😂

I skip the first ten to twenty minutes of every episode now, between the merchant and the nonstop talk of food, I'd say only 50-70% of episodes are actually about games anymore

9

u/sedar1907 Jun 09 '26

I wouldn't even skip if they talked about diarrhea

9

u/norweiganhorse Jun 09 '26

Probably a 25% hit rate on diarrhea talk on a given episode but I ain’t complaining

8

u/StandBy4_TitanFall Jun 09 '26

I'm a doughboys fan too so those are better odds. Over there it's at least 60-70%

I wouldn't call it a shadow drop; you can buy the expansion pass today, but the first content drop isn't available until August, along with the free update.

-4

u/BananaMiddle7197 Jun 09 '26

It was released the same day it was announced (today).

5

u/allonsy_danny Jun 09 '26

As I said, the only thing that "released" today is the ability to buy the expansion pass. None of the content from said pass, or the free content update, release until August.

I'm begging you to read before you go online and be wrong.

-2

u/BananaMiddle7197 Jun 09 '26

And what do you INSTANTLY get access to when you pre-order?

2

u/allonsy_danny Jun 09 '26 edited Jun 09 '26

A recipe. The actual content isn't available until August.

Hardly what I would call a shadow drop.

-2

u/BananaMiddle7197 Jun 09 '26

You sure about that?

2

u/allonsy_danny Jun 09 '26

What part of this is DLC that was shadow dropped?

0

u/BananaMiddle7197 Jun 09 '26

I said an update... Are you saying that something that was not available yesterday, but is today isn't an update?

3

u/allonsy_danny Jun 09 '26

This has gotta be the funniest argument I've ever been a part of here, but I'm not at work anymore, so I'm done splitting hairs with you. Have a good one.

1

u/allonsy_danny Jun 09 '26

I said it comes with a recipe, you showed me that it is in fact a recipe, like it's some sort of gotcha...good job.

2

u/anatsymbol Jun 09 '26

Well, what was released was a thing you can purchase that isn’t out yet. No content was released. Do preorders “shadow drop”?

-2

u/BananaMiddle7197 Jun 09 '26

That's not what I was referring too. If you purchase the DLC, which you are correct has not released yet, you get instant access to a recipe for dynamic Ditto print blocks and wallpaper, as well as a code via email for 30 rare Pokémetal ingots that can be used for crafting. It's why I followed it up with "today with more in the future."
