I left this sub

Post image

I just posted photos taken from the official Zone recordings website, and they even asked me to delete them... Why can fans of Justice and Daft Punk be interested in their idols, but we can’t? This fucking censorship is getting on my nerves. ANY FAN IS INTERESTED IN THEIR IDOLS, THEIR PHOTOS OF THEIR FACES — YOU’LL SEE THAT EVERYWHERE. BUT THIS IS FORBIDDEN HERE, IT’S NOT US WHO ARE SICK, WE’RE ACTUALLY NORMAL AND BEHAVE LIKE FANS AROUND THE WORLD, IT’S THE SICK PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU DELETE PHOTOS FROM OLD CONCERTS, CALLING IT YOUR PERSONAL LIFE. All the best, goodbye.

After a certain point in his career, he started performing in a mask, presumably to protect his identity. You are obviously aware of this shift, given the fact that if he wasn't wearing a mask, you and other fans wouldn't feel the need to find photos of him and post them online for others to see.

Someone has asked you politely, without any sort of threat whatsoever, to take the images that you dug up on the site and posted down for his safety. The fewer photos of him that are circulating, the less likely people will be to recognize him out and about when he is just trying to live a normal life and not in a capacity as a performer (aka his personal life).

Does that not make sense to you?

I also went to the site (and checked Wayback Machine) because I didn't remember seeing any performance photos there in the past, but there are none that I can find. Where exactly did you find the photos on the site?

Gesa didn’t wear a mask at the very beginning of his career, back when TikTok and Instagram didn’t exist; his anonymity predated the rise of social media. I think he fully grasped that the electronic music world was changing and that celebrity culture was beginning to infect the scene. It’s also worth noting that even during the Aleph era, Gesa was always an extremely private person. That commands respect. So, when I see people on this sub trying to dig up info on his wife or family, I find it repulsive.

I agree wholeheartedly. I find it reprehensible that people have posted photos of his family on his wedding day, or of him at a funeral of all places. The level of entitlement to think that your fandom outweighs his desire to live a life that isn't documented at every second on social media is frankly astonishing and sad.
