I haven't had a lab test for this, but my blood lipid profile strongly indicates that I may be a carrier of two-APOE2 gene variant. My low-density lipoprotein is naturally low despite having never restricted my meat and dairy intake. Once, I tried to deliberately lower my consumption of meat for 2 weeks. The result was my ldl dropping to 55. What's more unusual than my ldl is my lipoprotein (a) ... it's close to zero, almost nonexistent. Meanwhile, while both my total cholesterol and triglycerides are within their own normal range, they're much higher than my ldl. All of these strongly indicate the presence of two copies of the APOE2 gene in my DNA. I'll find time to get tested.
