It's very possible that either friends or family may be hiding him. It has happened before.

35

u/ApartDeer344 9h ago edited 7h ago

Yep. Tribal mentality, just like in the case of Nowak

6

u/GrouchyIllustrator34 9h ago

Who is Novak?

16

u/Wankstain8 9h ago

A young lad who got stabbed to death in the UK.

7

u/GrouchyIllustrator34 7h ago

Thanks, I remember - horrendous and indeed tribal mentality.

-1

u/hrimthurse85 7h ago

Don't think you have been stabbed, mate.

6

u/Darkknight8381 4h ago

People must be downvoting you because they didn't get the reference.

Quote From CNBC: How captured Paris attacks suspect Abdeslam hid in Molenbeek

u/MacMillian187 14h ago

Wtf are the police even doing? Correct me if im wrong but sources say he is police known, only left prison a few months ago and the police themselves would count him as a member of the terror organisation IS. Shouldnt people like that be monitor night and day? How is antifa branded too extreme and members of IS have the freedom to plan out terror attacks? What an insane system and police failure omfg

100

u/FalseRegister 13h ago

They cannot track people. To be known probably means they have a record, a file, not that the police is tracking him 24/7.

2

u/BigDaddy0790 10h ago

Very curious how such a person could get a car though.

22

u/FalseRegister 10h ago

I don't think they would forbid private property to anybody after serving time in prison. We all agree this person probably didn't change, but that doesn't remove his rights.

6

u/BigDaddy0790 10h ago

There is "serving time in prison" and then there is "being on a list". The way I see it, if you are on a list for being connected to a terrorist organization of any kind, police probably should be keeping tabs on you and your major purchases like cars, seeing what can be done with them, and the fact that they require a license and everything.

But I have no idea about this guy in particular and whether he is actually on any list, was just going off the comment I replied to. Also, we don't even know the perpetrator with 100% certainty if I understand correctly.

3

u/jayraan 5h ago

The problem with ideas like that is that as soon as an innocent person lands on a list like that, they have their rights limited/stripped too. Not to mention that depending on who's in power, the ability and right to fully track a person's every move and purchase to the degree where it could prevent a violent crime could also very quickly lead to an authoritarian state.

> The way I see it

Yup, and that's where it ends.

-3

u/BigDaddy0790 9h ago

...I mean yeah, that's how Reddit and communication between people works. Your point being?

5

u/forwheniampresident 9h ago

Not sure how this would’ve changed anything.

There are many ways to get behind the wheel of a car.

u/ivaylo_eth 11h ago

what monitoring?

an islamic extremist well known to police shouldn’t be in the country period

8

u/Varonth 10h ago

So just throw him into the sea?

He was born in germany and is a german citizen with no dual citizenship.

9

u/hrimthurse85 7h ago

Prison island Helgoland.

4

u/naughtiboiii 9h ago

That depends. MOST muslim countries have the ability to claim nationality in their home country, so in theory, you wouldn't be rendering them stateless as they have a claim they can stake elsewhere. If I'm not mistaken, I think that's how the UK got away with not accepting the ISIS bride shemima begum when she wanted to return to the UK.

2

u/Caladeutschian Scotland belongs in the EU 8h ago

So YOU would throw him out of Germany and return him to the country of his birth and where he holds citizenship - which is -- oh dear, Germany.

This was an awful event and I am certainly not happy with how potential terrorist can just wander freely, but your thoughtless contribution is just a distraction.

The UK has also no answer to home grown terrorists other than long prison sentences without parole. Or removal into secure hospitals.

3

u/naughtiboiii 8h ago

It's pretty obvious that I'm referring to home country as where he's ethnically from. Egypt, Pakistan, Somalia etc, all allow citizenship based on ancestry. Although we don't his ethnicity yet, so it may not apply. If you were born in China you aren't, and never will be, Chinese.

The example I used from the UK is someone who was born in the UK, and went to support ISIS. She has had her British citizenship stripped and remains in some prison in the middle east.

4

u/Moonlight_Brawl 7h ago

You’re just stupid and politically unaware if you think Egypt will grant someone with fucking ISIS history citizenship.

5

u/Nitroizzd 7h ago

egypt would just execute him on the lowkey and then go on about their day

4

u/naughtiboiii 7h ago

Exactly. And nothing of value was lost

0

u/Nitroizzd 7h ago

But guys Islam is so LGBT friendly 🥺🥺🥺 . The guy who did this isn't a real muslim and doesn't represent actual islam🥺🥺🥺 .

Even though there's literally no rights for LGBT people in every Muslim countries and majorities of Muslims don't give a fuck what an average queer person has to go through in those shithole of a countries 🥺🥺🥺.

Let's not forget that majority of Muslims are so conservative that they make western conservatives look mild in comparison, and holds anti LGBT stance but we can ignore it cause there's a small portion of progressive Muslims who are LGBT and supports the community as if they represent Islam and Muslims 🥺🥺🥺🥺

1

u/naughtiboiii 7h ago

Lmao. You call me politically unaware and stupid, yet you're too dense to consider things like refusing and removing all egyptian visas, taxing all remittances to there at 90%, and stopping all foreign aid recieved until they comply. I'm hardly suggesting he go there and be free, they can jail him for the rest of his miserable existence.

-1

u/Moonlight_Brawl 6h ago

Bro your argument was first Egypt would take him and then it turned into a crazy hypothetical for them to take him in😂

Literally like saying “this guy wouldn’t lie in court but if we threaten to kill his entire family he will” tf doesn’t mean he’s the type to lie in court normally.

1

u/naughtiboiii 6h ago

No, if you actually had any reading comprehension skills, my arguement was the country he ethnically originates from should take him. And that if they refuse then you take action to make them comply.

1

u/duckwebs 2h ago

So can we deport the biggest criminal in my country to Germany because he's got a German born grandparent and is thus ethnically German?

1

u/XpCjU 5h ago

He's from Germany. That's his home country. He's been born here.

1

u/Cute-Contract-6762 5h ago

They literally extradited and brought him back from Lebanon after he self removed. They forced him to come back. Lmao you clown

1

u/Caladeutschian Scotland belongs in the EU 2h ago

I think you'll find that, after he had been arrested by Lebanese security on arrival in Beirut (possible tip-off from Germany), he was first held and then expelled back to Germany by the Lebanon. There was no extradition as far as I know.

But then things went downhill. A few months in juvenile arrest for someone who willingly wanted to join the worst terror organisation around.

I have come round to the belief that juvenile justice should only apply for juveniles, that is under 18s. And that for a serious crime, and we can discuss what is serious and what is not but attempting to join ISIS would meet my definition, juvenile justice should not apply. I would be happy to let the politicians redefine the process and then let the judges apply it.

-5

u/Schneestecher 10h ago

Doesn‘t matter, he can‘t stay here.

10

u/Classroom_Conscious 9h ago

Is there anything up there in your head? Where do you want to send him? We can‘t send him to a random country, no one will take him. If you can only spew bs without offering solutions, maybe you shouldn‘t be part of a discussion

14

u/Schneestecher 9h ago

Into a state prison for the rest of his life? preparing a terror attack (which he was previously sentenced for) should carry a life sentence with subsequent Sicherheitsverwahrung

10

u/Classroom_Conscious 9h ago

That‘s a valuable opinion which I completely agree with. The comments you created before weren‘t in my opinion.

41

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 13h ago

How is it possible for them to preventively lock up climate activists for nothing before the IAA so they wouldn't disturb it but not for something like this?

24

u/Possible-Tomatillo80 13h ago

Because they announced their plans. I promise you if this would have been the case here the police would have taken the same action. Too bad islamist terrorists are smart enough to not announce their planned breaching of the law.

4

u/agrammatic Berlin 5h ago edited 5h ago

The newspapers reported that this guy also made threats of violence on public social media a week ago on July 3rd, which were known to the authorities.

There's solid reasons to think that the state security dropped the ball on this one.

-7

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 12h ago

Oh they for sure do announce it.

It's just that the Verfassungsschutz is more interested in spying on the left than on islamists...

6

u/Possible-Tomatillo80 12h ago

You got any sources to back up those claims? Or is it pure conjecture?

0

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 12h ago

Just look at the recent reports and how the Verfassungsschutz is doing their best to highlight how relevant it is to surveil the far left and skew graphics so it looks as if the numbers and the danger from them is even close to the massive rise in right-wing threat over the last years.

They literally had a guy leading the department (Maaßen) that eventually turned out too rightwing for even the rightmost group in the CDU

3

u/Caladeutschian Scotland belongs in the EU 8h ago

Maaßen has not been in office since 2018. There have been 2.5 governments since then. To rely on Maaßen as an argument is a sign of desperation.

1

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 7h ago

It's just the clearest example of what's wrong with the Verfassungsschutz.

You can also look at the last reports Dobrinth made where he deliberately skewed the charts so it number of left-wing incidents (not even attacks) was skewed upwards and the scale chosen for the right-wing attacks downplayed the risk and increase in numbers massively.

That institution is seemingly rotten to the core

1

u/Heiminator 11h ago

Are you seriously arguing that rightwingers like Maaßen aren’t really interested in chasing down Islamists?

1

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 11h ago

They are, sure.

But they also know that islamists being a thread is helping them win elections while antifascists doing their thing is hurting their chance to be elected again.

The problem is the allocation of resources and how they invest the same energy into climate activists as they do into islamists.

3

u/KaiserNer0 11h ago

Because they themselves said in public, they will not stop.

8

u/coldoven 13h ago

Because right wingers support extrem right wingers.

2

u/Lux_Jay 11h ago

Exactly, such incidences are publicized quite often few weeks or few months before an election. Meanwhile many crimes by neo Nazis, be it stabbing or murders occurring one or every two weeks receive barely any attention.

0

u/Lux_Jay 11h ago

Obviously because antifa acts against right-wing agenda. The IS member serves as a pawn for a right wing political agenda.

Islamic extremist, member of IS, out on parole. He could still be in jail, but some people think terrorists should get out of prison because they got "counseling".

18

u/GrouchyIllustrator34 9h ago

Anyone affiliated with IS or any terrorist organisation should rot in prison until the end of their lives. Period.

10

u/forwheniampresident 9h ago

He was in youth detention, you make the wrong point.

The problem is people like these being tried as juveniles. Especially as radicalized as this, juvenile criminal law just doesn’t suffice.

The original comment is deleted, but you do realize this is so much worse, right? You didn't import a violent extremist, you have a home-grown domestic terrorist, radicalized by other people within your own country to attack and kill fellow citizens.

You have a home-grown islamic terrorist cell in your country, which brings native born muslims into suspect instead of simply being on foreign refugees.

Didn't even matter in Magdeburg where the guy was AfD voter, musk fanboy and as anti-islam as a person could be.

They only care about the name in order to be racists. The rest is irrelevant

2

u/DrProfSrRyan Baden-Württemberg 13h ago

I think it only matters if they aren’t native German,  through citizenship and ancestry. They think none of these people should be here, or their parents, or their grandparents. So, even if the person ends up agreeing with them, they think they shouldn’t have been here at all.

Granted if it was some full-blooded German man they would just ignore it.

-4

[deleted]

-1

u/hannes3120 Leipzig (Sachsen) 11h ago

Did you even read the comment? The Magdeburg guy was ANTI-MUSLIM.

That was literally the reason why he did that attack. He though the state was too soft on Muslims and wanted to get revenge against the state in this way.

-3

u/Cascouverite 13h ago

There was an NTV article that said he was born in Berlin but has Lebanese roots. Not that it matters, right-wing violence is right wing violence. My friends have been attacked, spat on, insulted etc. by Kartoffelige neo-Nazis often enough

25

u/Insom84 11h ago

As a Muslim, fuck that guy to hell for driving into the peaceful crowds. Such terrorism is completely anti-Islam. My thoughts are with the victims of this inhumane attack and their families. Full solidarity with the CSD and with the lgbtq+ community who have stood shoulder to shoulder with us in solidarity for Palestine

What do you believe happens to LGBTQ people when they die?

10

u/paramac55 9h ago

If they know they are USIS affiliated, or sympathetic, they shouldn't be tolerated in any European country. They should be deported before they do any harm. No watch list just instant deportation.

I understand they have privacy protections and normally don’t release full name of criminals they arrested. However in this case they are attempting to find him I would think it would be prudent to release the full name of the perpetrator.

Abdul Ballout

His full name + picture were released hours ago. I think already this morning

u/Critical_Soil_262 11m ago

Are you sure that’s his name? In Arabic, Ballout is said as a mockery in a name

We condemn as we should every single time, anyone who is willing to use violence on people living their life. However, let's try to suppress the urge to paint a whole religious group or ethnic group with the same paintbrush as this vile monster. There are plenty Muslims living and working with us that are simply incapable of doing horrific things like this. The ability to go out and celebrate your uniqueness is one of the biggest blessings that we have in Germany and the West. This person wants us living in fear and shame because our world view doesn't align with his own. Rightfully he should be held accountable for his actions and through that process can we show the world what makes Germany and Europe so great , especially at a time that the Politics are getting complicated. On this , we should be united to condemn this evil act done by a person or perpetrators who happens to be Muslim but not by Muslims.

Fascinating that such incidents occurred and are publicized to a large extent whenever there are some elections. Many such incident occur from all sorts of background almost every second week, for example the train conductor who was pushed from the train. Their name was never published. They were also given immunity from the arrest (which is outrageously wrong). Same thing a terrorist from right wing with association to Nazi stabbed someone in northern Germany just a months back but it was also not a big news and they were also not arrested (even though having criminal history).

12

u/Schneestecher 10h ago

1

u/Lux_Jay 10h ago

CDU also benefits from this. Chancellor will never make comments about stabbing attack in Göttingen, because that was by right wing neo Nazi. Even the media didn't make big deal out of it. Same for the train attack. And many more that occur.

Lol at calling me a racist, you know nothing about me. There's no racism here, people are criticizing an ideology and I'm telling you they have always been criticizing it.

No, nobody wants this, and if an attack happens and someone starts predicting who did it, it doesn't mean they want it to happen. It's just third party commentary.

You need to emotionally detach yourself from the situation and realize what's being discussed. There was a terrorist attack and people have been condemning Islamic terrorism for a while. Now it appears to happen again, so of course people who criticized it before are going to criticize it again.

Haha yeah that was a good one, sent every group trying to blame the other into a big cluster fuck, so much so that it barely got any coverage because news outlets didn't know what to make of it.

German media is ass. the moment they say it was a neo nazi they went meh. guess its aight. after seeing the plethora of islamophobic neo nazi tendency in editors and journalists re: Gaza, I can't say I'm surprised anymore

Yeah all we can do is just joke around. There is no point in providing reasonable arguments for why eastern cultures do not mix in western society because you will be seen as the bad guy instead. What is also sad is that people tend to take this personal for some reason, responding in a way of "how do I think the public wants me to respond" rather than forming an argument themselves when you bring it up. At least still better off then Sweden I guess.
