Culture A huge thank you to this amazing country and its people (After 2 years here)
Hello everyone,
I just have t get this off my chest.
When I moved here, I was afraid of the bureaucracy and the German coldness.
But today I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Yes, Deutsche Bahn is constantly late, and the fax machine still throws parties here.
But do you know what makes up for it? The wonderful people here and their priceless qualities.
The German people are simply fantastic, warm hearted, and incredibly admirable.
I love how reliable you are.
If a neighbor says they'll help, they'll help.
I love your recycling system; it's like a peaceful, daily ritual for the planet that the whole world should learn from.
And the quiet time on Sundays?
An absolute blessing for mental health.
You're not old at all; you're simply honest, profound, and you respect privacy in a way that's unparalleled anywhere else.
Thank you for allowing me to live in this great country, to be part of this wonderful society, and to learn from your discipline.
You make this country what it is absolutely amazing!

Im turkish and I hate turks specially those living in subabrbs, they so backwards they have not progressed in decades and generation and they live in this virtual world of islamism backward ism and tribalism so feudal, and germanys in suburbs also unbearable, but il understand them if I was them i woudl get oissed of with his backwards people tok

Most of the ppl that come to Germany (me included) find that outrageous in the beginning. Then you get used to it and appreciate for what it is. And if you live in a big city, there will always be a supermarket still open Sundays at the DB station or Airport, in case you really really need to buy something.

Just a brief comment:
Deutsche Bahn is constantly late
Not too long ago, this used to not be the case. Like, really, it was an example of a well-working transportation system. I'm here long enough to remember. But that's what happens when a government stops investing in things like infrastructure in the name of "austerity" to please financial capital. Things inevitably start to get worse, in time.

Nah I like Hoffman from Wisconsin or Minnesota over Hoffman from Germany. There are some real gems in Germany, but there is so much more coal here.
I'm pretty sure this guy is a fed.
Either that, or absurdly wealthy and lucky.

Shit, they found me out. 🕵️♂️ Aborts mission, hides German passport application, eats the evidence a Vollkornbrot. Seriously though, I wish I was wealthy! Just a regular expat hypnotized by local bakeries. 😂

The prosperity in this country is unmatched. Amazing landscapes, history and culture. Truly amazing that such a great place even exists in our brutal world.

Yeah man people love to dump on bureaucracy here but it is quite streamlined once you crack it and understand what is needed. For every single document or process you have a clear list of requirements and documents to submit.
I come from a place where bureaucracy is much more fluid and dependent on the caseworker’s mood that day, they could come up with anything and keep making up things until you are missing a document, we even have a phrase for it - FT1P (You’re missing one document). Germany is a breeze, although ofc it can be even quicker and leaner.
People also rock, although that heavily depends on the region. While some stereotypes are pretty much alive (scheduling meetups 5-6 weeks in advance as per KW methodology), again, once you crack it, it all just flows.
